Stupid Driver Stories

That was the best version of that song you could find? Really? Bonus awfullness points for having an image from that trainwreck Knoxville remake movie :p

This idiot. Double left protected turn lane and they decide to turn left in front of traffic from the center lanes just as the light changes.

Then they decided to sit in the intersection and block it as they couldn't figure out what to do next.

Been noticing more and more of a stupid trend lately.

My commute home goes down the main road in the picture above, and usually its bumper to bumper when I'm driving home. More often than not, traffic on the other side of the intersection is backed up all the way to the blue line, so even if its a green light cars don't pull forward to not block the intersection. Well, the cars from the side street take that as an invitation to turn right on red, right into the heavily backed up row of cars thus further making the situation worse. I really want to know what (if anything) is going through these peoples' minds when they decide to do this.

It's the same all over the world. At least in Germany it's written in the StVO (road traffic regulations) that you must not enter an intersection if you can't clear it.

That said, many people have only basic knowledge of the written rules, and rules like these tend to be "not important to remember" because you could be held up for a minute more if you follow those rules.

I totally get that, and I'm not bothered by people waiting for traffic to clear infront of me. What I am bothered by is the obliviots who turn on red and block the intersection when there is a row of cars with a green waiting to go. Or even if traffic starts flowing and they still turn on red to jump in.

Oh wells.

Same in NY and I suspect many other states

An idiot, but there's no LOL about it. This guy is putting lives in danger with his self-entitlement and should have his license shredded.

Found more about it

This is the moment the driver of a Mercedes convertible appears to deliberately block the road for an ambulance on the way to a hospital in west Slovakia.

The ambulance was carrying an 84-year-old woman who had suffered a fall, but despite sirens blaring and all other cars getting out of the way, the Mercedes stayed in front of them.

However, the driver later told local media that he was only trying to assist the ambulance crew, believing that he was 'escorting' them through traffic.

...

The driver of the car has since been identified as a Boris Zahumensky, a local 'entrepreneur' who had stood in local council elections for the Christian Democratic Movement party (KDH).

Mr Zahumensky, 45, told a Slovakian newspaper that he felt terrible for blocking the ambulance, as he had honestly believed to have done them a favour, thinking they had turned on the sirens to ask for his guidance - not for him to move out of the way.

'I figured that they wanted me to show them the way,' the delusional driver told Cas.sk.

'I did not hesitate to risk my life and my brand new car that I only had owned for two days to do this.'

He added that his hero bubble burst at the last intersection when the ambulance came up alongside him and the driver told him off.

Mr Zahumensky was arrested by police and had his drivers licence and weapons licence suspended pending investigation.

His membership in the Christian Democratic Movement party has also been suspended, the newspaper said.

The words fail me on this one....

Those Slovakians need an air/bull horn installed on their ambulance in addition to the regular wailers.

Or better yet, a rumbler

Doors? Where we're going, we don't need doors...
