Subaru S204. The Ultimate Impreza gets an update.

Dino Dalle Carbonare has just updated his blog with some shots and impressions from the new Subaru S204. I haven't been a fan of the top-spec STi models in the past because they always seemed so 'boy racer'. This, is my ultimate current production japanese car. Have a look at it! That spoiler is gorgeous, as is the front bar. I love it!!!

Not even a year has passed since the S203 hit the scene and its replacement is already here. Behold the S204, probably the best Impreza you can get straight out of the box.

The 320 PS are courtesy of the blueprinted and balanced flat four which is fitted with a larger IHI turbine. Power delivery is as smooth as it gets and there is plenty of torque available at low rpm ready to give you a punch of acceleration whenever you need it.

What really surprised me was how well the S204 handled. The hard yet supple STi suspension offer precision and accuracy without sacrificing comfort. This is also down to the tiny Yamaha dampers which have been fitted inside the rear strut bar and front chassis stiffening bar. They might sound like a gimmick but they truly work!

Only 600 will be built and only sold in Japan at 4.8 million Yen

PS is a common Japanese rating for power which is short for Power-Stroke.

I didn't like the new wrx/sti on first look but the more i look at it the more i want one. (but gotta change that front grille.... lol)

"PS" is actually a German acronym for "pferdstaerke" which literally translates to "horsepower." So "PS" is actually metric horsepower. Where did "Power-Stroke" come from???

I think it's about time we see a half decent looking Impreza. I was getting sick of vomiting every time a saw an old bug-eye one. :D

I was going to say the S201 was the best version (the original) but then I saw a pic of it :yucky:

I still prefer the original STI overall. Best design IMO.
 
My fav's still the S202.

Though it's a shame nobody here in America's going to pay 10 grand more (base price for an STi with 300hp is $30,000) for 20 more horses and some chassis tweaks (and not to mention that vastly better looking wing). I would! (Maybe!)

nup, for me, the latest one is easily the best looking, better looking even, than the MY99 pre bug eyes original. Stunning.
 
i never heard of this series of releases before :unsure:

i thought the 22b was the top impreza?

^Wasn't that only made during one model generation? I always thought the Spec-C was the top-o'-the-line one. :dunno:

With 10k, most people have pumped 450+ whp easily.
