So, I have been tasked to put up a new site for a club (one in real life) and I don't really have a clue what would be best...
The server and its abilities are no problem. If there is something special the server needs to do, the function can be ordered.
stuff I need the software to do:
A couple if static pages to introduce the club, a page where all the members (about 35) are presented and maybe the guys in charge on an extra page
A main page that can be updated with current news and events.
Some sort of member system, mostly for the calendar, but also for an image gallery (see the next 2 items)
A calendar with events. Some events may have a limited number of possible guests, so a sign up function is a must have.
An image gallery that is powerful enough for 1000s of images (spanning 10 years, maybe 4 GB once I am done with resizing to something like 3-4 MPx) Preferrably the gallery has permissions per album. Public and members only...
I and 2 others from the club were thinking Wordpress with various plugins??? I've dabbled in WP before, but not too much. What do you guys think?
