Just to bring up the old TG goes to America-episode. Europcar has made an interesting comparison/advertisement on it's homepage. I apologize for the Finnish. Basically what it's saying is, that a couple of old bangers with huge mileage are considerably more expensive for the summer than their rental crap.

Well, Mr. public dug up a few examples of the same car models. Kind of curious that these examples seem quite mint compared to what they got for the same price. And I'll almost guarantee you'll get AT LEAST half of your money back from these.

In Finland we have this thing called reilu meininki, so avoid Europcar.
Anyone wanting a car for the summer, check out the used car adverts first, ok?

funny about that laurel... 2500?????!!!

I bought 10 years younger, half the mileage car with abs, airbags etc with the same money.

So the point was, where do these guys get their prices from?

ps. that laurel is same as the europcar laurel

Wait, why would one need a car for the summer if they already have one for the autumn, winter and spring too?

374,000km on that Golf? Damn. Same with 540,000km on that Nissan.

hmm, 2500 euro is about $4500AUD. That's hardly throwaway banger money. You could get a reasonably tidy mid-90's car for that sort of cash (maybe not in Finland though).
