It was the most serious breakdown in Swiss railway history. The only similar incident happened in 1997, when trains in western Switzerland were halted for 40 minutes.

Damn, I'm sure that happens more than once a week here in holland.

I have a very amusing mental picture of all these swiss people running around in a panic thinking the world has come to end as the trains have stopped for 40 minutes
 
Oh, they stopped for over 3 hours, now. :blush:

40 minutes was in 1997.
 
a couple of weeks ago, i was stuck in a train for 1 and a half hours... between 10pm and midnight...

apparantly some guy was tresspassing and got hit by the train i was on. (he was ok)
anyway, i understand it wasnt the train company's fault, but i do think things could have been handled better.
 
They'll be getting a reputation, and to think that after Toblerone and clocks it's their railway that's the most famous thing about Switzerland (just beating the army knife and guard!). Good job the TG chaps weren't filming the race to Verbier then, it would have been pretty pointless (although Jeremy would have won much easier!).

They must have been going crazy on those trains the Swiss. I was stuck on a Eurostar for an extra 3 hours once, it was midsummer and I was going mad. Unlike James and Richard I was not in extreme comfort and not able to look forward to a first class lunch, having champagne and the white Bordeaux.
 
the most hatefull thing about a train not moving...is the AC which doesn't work.
it heats up so quickly in a train when you have to wait, i hate it

and it actually happens quite a lot that trains can't ride, but most of the time that's because someone jumped under it :x

yeah I know, I played with it, but I havent messed with animated gifs much, so it's the best I could do while keeping the file size down :( I know it's crappy...

no offense, it just needs to be improved is all. Keep trying :)
 
^ none taken - maybe I'm not using a good app to make it, but it's probably just a bad choice since the end and start frames are so different - maybe I loop it so they pull the car *back* as well :p
