Do they have ratings for a couple of weeks ago on there? Would be interesting to see what numbers they were pulling for Top Gear UK to compare...

Damnit, I was typing up this post this morning but I figured eating food was better.

Top Gear UK was happily bringing in ~850,000 to 900,000 viewers each week.

SBS will keep on with it in the same timeslot- I mean, look at Newstopia. Brilliant show, sh*t ratings and a 3rd season now.

I'm sure SBS are wise enough (unlike commercial stations) to know the potential of the product they have, and that it will take time to reach that potential & build an audience.

Keep in mind yesterday was the end of a long weekend in parts of the country, I expect that next week the ratings will go up again (though not quite as high as the first episode).

Where do they get their figures from ? (I'm not argueing but no one asked me if I was watching !!)

What amazes me is reading articles and comments from the general public on news.com.au ( i.e Not the well informed intelligent users of this forum ;) ) saying all sorts of things regarding the Australian series.

Some even claiming that TopGear UK was taken off SBS so the Australian version could be shown !!

Hopefully these neanderthals won't get the chance to dictate whether these guys get a real chance or not !

They have a sample size (a couple of hundred) and extrapolate from there

i reckon wait for ep3 figures come out before making any conculsions

Since this past Monday was a public holiday in the eastern states, many folks were probably not watchin TV, or didnt realise it was actually Monday (i fall into the latter category, spent all day and half the night painting the house, finally sat down infront of the box at about 845, and only then realised I'd missed the whole thing!) :idiot:

It says a lot about Australia when people would rather watch shows about people bringing in dodgy food through Customs or 3rd rate karaoke than watch what is actually a very good car show. :|
