The 2010/11 UCL UEFA Champions League & Europa League Thread

I'm shocked that Tottenham won that game.

Gareth Bale is fantastic, very impressive.

And awesome result for FC Copenhagen as well. Drawe against Barcelona is quite an achievement for a Danish team.. And they're a comfortable second in their group.

The referee was terrible in that match Valdes started out completely knock-outing Dame N'Doye from FC Copenhagen outside the box. Should have been an obvious red. And there were several other situations where barcelona got obvious advantages. Don't know why excactly.

Aye, Barcelona deserved atleast one red card, but an unexperience ref didn't seem to agree.
Anyway it was a good game which could have ended both ways with a bit of luck. All in all a draw was a good resault for both teams

It was very impressive win, Gareth Bale had a tremendous match.

I just saw the highlights, I think he made (assisted) all three goals. I should think that Real & Barca will be taking an interest in Bale.

Also, Rafa VdV scored again and has turned out to be a very nice "surpise purchase" by the Chairman.
(Harry claims he did not know that the club went looking to buy him on the last day of the transfer window in Europe.)

I counted three situations where Barcelona could've got a man send off. Valdes, Alves having "revenge" against Oscar Wendt, and Busquets could've gotten a second yellow card.

But complaining is stupid, a draw is a fantastic result, and places FC Copenhagen brilliantly to move on to the next round :)

AC Milan 2-2 Real Madrid
Auxerre 2-1 Ajax
Basel 2-3 Roma
CFR 1907 Cluj-Napoca 0-4 Bayern Munich

Chelsea 4-1 Spartak Moscow
MSK Zilina 0-7 Marseille
Partizan Belgrade 0-1 Braga
Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Arsenal

Still top of Group H on goal difference, Arsenal without Fabregas lost away to Shaktar, but should still qualify, albeit in second place.
Chelsea?s win has qualified them for the next round tonight. Well done to the Blues!

I might have gone to see the CFR Cluj-Bayern game yesterday evening, but I wasn't able to get hold of a ticket. Looking at the result... I'm glad I didn't go.

?Captain Fantastic? comes on as sub, for Liverpool in the second half and gets a hat-trick to win the game.
Man City, without Tevez again, loose away in Poland leaving some of their fans unimpressed with a team of high pay checks and sometimes low achievement.

Juve need to get their stuff together real soon.

Tops teams at this stage, are Stuttgart and the Russians Zenit St. P?s and CSKA Moscow., all with four wins from four.
:)

So, Spurs out qualify the champions Inter. Who?d have guessed? Well done to Tottenham.
Chelsea & Man U both won their groups, but Arsenal only came through in second place. They must be hoping for a helpful draw for the next round.

Pretty much all the usual suspects have qualified with no surprises.

:)

That's too bad about Benfica and Braga.. they fought head to head till the last game last season for the Portuguese championship and both looked very strong (Benfica having more than half the squad composed of international players, some very big names like Aimar and Saviola, with young superstar Di Maria, now in Real Madrid) but this year they're both doing quite badly both at the international and domestic stages. It's like they couldn't manage very well their priorities...

Sigh, what the fuck is it with Milan and UCL? Second half in complete control again, one chance for Tottenham and that's it. I can't see them winning the next game with their scoring problems. I guess they should sub Pippo Inzaghi again and let him do his magic...

Valencia had a draw and let in an away goal as well, not good. Barca better give Arsenal a whooping tomorrow or I'll be depressed.

Entertaining game, Milan-Spurs! Gattusso needs to relax! And Flamini is a complete jackass doing that kind of tackling.

Too bad Ibra's goal at the end didn't count, it looked quite nice :) But he was both offside, and made a freekick in the process, so..

I'm expecting a lot from tonight game between Arsenal and Barcelona! Last years match was one of the best of the year. Too similar teams who wants to play attractive, offensive football! Doesn't get much better than that :)

Arsenal is going to play amazing football today, the likes of which haven't been seen in the beautiful game ever.

In spite of all this, they'll not manage to score, instead choosing to pass the ball across an open net after the Barca goalie has been transported away by klingons.
