why? big spiders aren?t scary... they?re slow, and smart enough to stay away from the most dangerous animal on this planet...

long range, effective, no mess...

I hate spiders just as much as anyone but for some strange reason I love tarantulas. I'll run around the house screaming like a scared little girl if I see a small spider on the wall, but I never pass up a chance to hold a big hairy tarantula.

This thread reminds me of BlaRo freaking out about spiders in his bike restoration thread. My worst spider experience was having one crawl across my face as soon as I was in bed. Needless to say I didn't get any sleep that night.

I hate these guys, I go out of my way to kill them. Our dorm was a hot spot for them in the fall, I swear I killed nearly 50 of them while at college.

This thread is seriously lacking one of the greatest internet/fark icons ever... and the one thing that was most responsible for freaking me the hell out when I first got acquainted with the interwebs....

I was reading about Australian spider species when I came across this picture of a Huntsman (Heteropoda jugulans):

*Stops typing and slowly looks down at keyboard... :shock2:*

You sorta get used to them when your house (mainly exterior, thankfully) and shed are infested with them. They arent poisonous and are generally fairly innocuous.

Now the Funnel Web Spider, that's enough to send shivers down my spine. I dont like the idea of being actively hunted by an aggressive 50mm long spider with fangs as long as a fingernail...

Speaking of spiders....

Most around an inch long, that picture is misleading.

Fuck, I'm getting the shivers just looking at them. Ugh.

Oh cool, I've heard of all the mentioned "bugs" in this thread. I think they are cool and shows how wild nature can be. I love stuff like this.

About a year ago I was reading everything I could find about botflies because of this video. This stuff fascinates me.

Im generaly fine with most spiders and bugs....but huntsmans...no fucking way. Those little buggers scare the living shit out of me. I don't know how many times ive pulled an external spare tyre of a car to find one of those hiding in it *shudders*.

House centipedes! They're almost completely harmless, but they can move very quickly and look kind of creepy. They actually eat spiders, so if you've got a lot of centipedes then you probably won't see too many spiders. They like warm/moist places, like dorm bathrooms.

I was gonna look for some camel spider pics when I came of this variation. Now I'm gonna put it in a spoiler box, as I don't wanna get any negrep. View on your own risk:

I dare you to touch the picture with your hand.
