Of course! But you put so many miles on the car and did you see like the front end of the F50 after the last one? So many rock chips! :(

But yeah, cars are meant to be driven. I'd do it! :D

I serviced a former cannonball car about a month ago.. didn't look to bad.. hadn't been resprayed or anything.. had only driven 500km in the 4 years since it ran...

quite funny to take for a test drive.. E36 beemer.. standard green 320i by apperance.. but it had a twin turbo 325 engine that put out 462hp on the dyno..

If you have the money for entering and to run the Gumball-you don't care about the odometer increasing by another 10.000 miles or chips in the paint, do you? I dunno...I'm not that rich, yet..

Zeffez: Where abouts in denmark are you from?? I love Denmark... viva la Scandinavia ;)

Rubbish in what way? Just curious if it's the vanity-side of the race or whatever...?

Just that the open road is no place for a race of any kind. I consider this kind of stuff the most useless thing in automotive "competition" after drag racing. And given the behaviour of some of the "pilots" on the road, it's also very, very dangerous for the other people on the road.

There are circuits for racing. And they do have the money to hire them. Heck, I'm sure they could even reopen the Monaco track off season or hire the Nurb?rgring for a week straight!

Maybe you can call me boring, but i wouldn't participate. I mean what's the fun in driving when you have driven 2000 miles without a decent night sleep. Few times i have had to drove a car when i'm extremely tired and let me tell it's far from pleasuring exprerience.
Besides if i were a rich man i would rather go cruising around the world with my friend, without all that useless nonsense what gumball brings to gumballers. And the only thing what would matter on the road is that we wouldn't have any hurry. That is my thoughts about driving and pleasure put together.

And increasing mileage wouldn't matter to me, like viper said cars are ment to be driven.

if i had money out my ass id have a SL600 as a daily driver and SL55 AMG for things like this and track days.

Nice....are you a carmechanic?

working on becoming one.. another 18months and I'll be certified.

Cool! I think it'd be fun to work as a mechanic. Any brand"verksted" or a regular one that accepts any brand?

Haven't got a permanent spot yet, so I work 3-6 months in one garage then on to the next.. has been small garages sofar.. accepting all brands.. which is the best.. I learn how to fix cars without relying on a computer..

^^^yes, that's exactly what it is^^^

There's a difference between a race and a rally. In Gumball, it's all about being on a trip or a mission, not to get to one place the fastest. It's a social thing too, you'll meet people from all over the world, and cars from all over the world too!
It's all about sharing a passion for something, sharing the joy...
Everyone is allowed to have a dream, try not to be so realistic all the time! You won't go anywhere...

You seem to be sending out mixed signals here  .

OMG, you are awake aren't you!

I take it that you weren't that serious with that post, but if anyone were confused with that comparison, what I can say is that I am a pritty down to earth kinda guy. I stick to facts, Im fair etc...BUT I think having goals and dreams is important for your motivation and such for the future, and like I said not being so realistic all the time.

When I say reality beats fiction by far, I mean e.g. that I preffer a film with an original story compared to a science fiction film. I like driving a fast car that doesn't look fast, rather than driving a ricer that drives really bad and slow...
I just don't need any fiction, I like original and true things.

I don't know if that all made any sense at all, difficult to put into words I guess...
