Sorry if this is a repost, but I honestly did a search and didn't find a thread already about this. If there is, slap me.

So what car do you think has the best looking engine bay?

I like a simple clean looking engine bay. My vote is for the R8 engine:

And my other vote is for the SL55 engine (well, almost any AMG engine will do)8):

BOOOOO on the AMG engine bays! Mercedes SUCKS at making nice engine bays. The fact that they resort to engine covers proves it. This is also why many current domestic engine bays suck so much ass

I'm waiting for someone to post a veyron...

Once again, when looking for works of art, you must look at the Italians:

Thank you! I could not find a decent freakin' pick of that engine. (as you can see in my post).

Deco Rides Boattail Speedster by Chip Foose

Any engine bay by Chip Foose is beautiful. If you have ever heard him talk about how he wants the engine to look you know that "the engine is the gem, and the engine bay is the velvet box. When you open the box the only thing you should see is the gem."

Don't think it's just classics he can work with either - he worked on the new Challenger and look what he did under the hood!

If we are talking modified cars as well... Trepanier is an artist

'24 T with an Olds Quad 4 (yes a freakin' quad 4/ twin came, the same head gasket blowing engine in cavaliers and baretta's)

I agree with him. On a super car there is NO EXCUSE for an ugly engine bay or even worse an engine cover.

If I can't see the very object which excites me when I hit the loud pedal I don't want it. This is one of the reasons I despise the Veyron.

The new Hemi engine is a boring ass thing to look at. It, like the LSx engines are just a bunch of plastic on top.

I've got a hot rod magazine with a pic of a Supercharged Northstar getting the last few bolts tightened on it, and it's a work of art, and GM covers it up in the STS-V with an ugly ass cover.

Take another look at the car in the photo, that is hardly a boring engine bay. The manifold is a work of art.

The Challenger, are there other pics that I'm not seeing (only one in my browser)? It's just your standard issue plastic molding. I prefer the look of completely separated runners myself.

To each their own I guess.

For stock cars I vote for Italian engine bays. Plastic covers are a joke. For modified ones I agree with thedguy, Trepanier doesn't cut corners.
