the cost cutting cunts at ford infect Jaguar with the clap

I once saw a business report on jaguar and ford.. ford apparently made the biggest mistake when they lowered the prices of jags so they can sell them when they bought the company.. and look now.. they'll never be able to sell expensive cars.. cause the image is kinda ruined, apart from the sporty class. if they have made some really amazing cars and raised the prices up, i think people would've loved that.. everybody wants an expensive car to drive, when people get some money they'll go for their dream cars not something sensible and surely not a car that is cheap with a million years old interior but a good badge. and the world is becoming richer with time, so i think its a stupid move from ford. thats why we see more supercars and expensive cars on the road nowadays more than before.

Was Jaguar really a successful brand before though? Before the S-Type and X-Type? How many of you really dreamed of an XK? ;) And were they really outselling BMW or Merc?

I think they should cut out the X-Type and S-Type and focus on the XK and XJ. Bring them to competitive levels with BMW and Merc.

nothing VERY wrong with the S-Type, I'd say switching it to a full alum. chassis to reduce weight and a maybe a V12 and clever usage of marketing could give it the "bank robber" image the MkII had in the 60s :)

and a lot of the rot that prevails in Jaguar is the fault of british leyland, I think Ford in a knee jerk reaction tried to cheapen the brand intentionally when they bought it so they wouldn't have to address the reputation for poor reliability :x

but yeah, kill the x-type straight away, it's a dog, it's really expensive compared to its direct competition(C-class & 3 Series) but not as good and no one seems to want one  I actually worked for the publisher of Jaguar Magazine in Aus when the x-type came out, no one was happy but especially the people with s-types that paid $50k more(AUD) for a car with exactly the same interior(dash, seats, leather, everything) as the 'cheap' X-Type... :?

X-Type is God-awful...if they had gotten it right, it would've been a great addition, but it lacks any sense of quality and is most decidedly NOT British (don't care where it's built or who designed it).

Looks like Audi remains the king of the aluminum chassis.

And what's with this?! "But the process is costly, and Ford is trying to restructure Jaguar as a 'Porsche' rather than a 'BMW,' geared up to produce 100,000 cars a year rather than 200,000."

Jaguar a "Porsche?" Ford's on crack.

Yeh Jag should just start eliminating its lower end models and start making Jag an exclusive brand. All they need in their model lineup are these two cars and the brand is complete:

took me 2 days to come up with it

It could have been worse...they could have been owned by GM. The Jaguar line-up would have been full of rebadged Opels long time ago...

I ask, why expensive... The mk2 wasn't specially expensive in it's time, same with the E-type it was a performance bargain. ;)

The X type is basicly an expensive Taurus, it is on the same platform.

Ehm what? But the process is costly, and Ford is trying to restructure Jaguar as a "Porsche" rather than a "BMW," geared up to produce 100,000 cars a year rather than 200,000"
They want to make Jaguar more prestigious (and then they could put a bigger price tag on it) but they still are cutting the aluminium structure?

"Normal" jags are junk. I hate all of the ones that have round headlights for the most part.

No, it is not the same platform. It rides on the Mondeo's platform.

Still junk.
