Barn Yarn
We love a good yarn here at Top Gear and this one has been doing the rounds for a while. It goes something like this...
A rich American decides to retire to Portugal, buys a deserted house with a barn. Behind the welded-shut doors of the barn are more than 200 dusty classics that the previous owner had collected before dying without anyone to pass them on to.
Sounds cute, but the truth is just as page-turning...
The real story behind the The Great Portuguese Barn Find Hoax is that a Portuguese classic car dealer bought the cars as he fancied them, storing them away for restoration.
After years of the cars sitting in the barn, the dealer thought it would be a good idea to have the cars photographed as a record... and it's these photos that have been used to support the hoax claims.
Either, way, what a sight to open the barn doors to.
