This, from a VW owner :p

 Well, BMW has always been my fav brand and will always be. VW is nothing special to me, just because I own a Beetle. And I'm even a board memberof Oslo VW Club :D

I'm a VW owner, and think only the Europeans can make a proper car/engine. But, even I think this list looks a little... um, biased?

But while I'm here. VW & BMW.

Porsche and the RS4 engine should have gotten a honourbale mention, and maybe the AMG 63 and Ferrari V8 aswell.

Well these things doesn't change the fact that the best engine ever came out from Ingolstadt 26 years ago ;)

those engine awards are crap.

the vtec unit is nothing special anymore thats why and its discontinued. Would never have the torque to lug around a 1500kg car like the 2.0T does.

I didn't know VW actually brought out that Twin-charged engine, thats cool. The rest I think is mostly BMW sack-riding.

Why is the best up to 2.0 liter engine the VW FSI turbo, it should be the 2.0 Liter honda VTEC (early S2000)

Because they only make the 2.2 now, among other issue's.

Incorrect - while America gets the 2.2, other markets still get the 2.0.
