The road to the finals kicks off in September 2010 and runs through to October 2011.

There are 14 places available alongside the co-hosts Poland and Ukraine for the tournament which runs from 8 June to 1 July, 2012.

At the conclusion of qualifying, the team at the top of each group will qualify automatically. The second-placed team with the most points from games versus the first-, third-, fourth- and fifth-placed teams will qualify also. The remaining eight second-placed teams will contest two-legged playoffs for the right to join them.

As in Euro 2008 qualifying: If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings.

1. Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question
2. Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question
3. Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question
4. Higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question
5. If, after applying criteria 1) to 4) to several teams, two or more teams still have an equal ranking, the criteria 1) to 4) will be reapplied to determine the ranking of these teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 6) and 7) will apply
6. Results of all group matches:
  • 1. Superior goal difference
  • 2. Higher number of goals scored
  • 3. Higher number of goals scored away from home
  • 4. Fair play conduct
7. Drawing of lots

Hopefully Norway can qualify this time, finally having a competent coach.

BBC Sport said:
Tottenham striker Peter Crouch is out of England's squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday and Switzerland next Tuesday.

No major surprises in the results amongst the higher ranked sides, apart from France, who lost at home to Belarus. Their shit still seems to carry on. :(

Good away wins for both of the Irelands, Norway and Turkey.

The ref really did a number on us Estonians by not awarding a clear penalty which would have put us 2:0 up. In the end the stronger team won, but I still feel pissed at that spanish retard of a motherscrewing c*nt!

.. and in a late result
Portugal 4 - 4 Cyprus

This perhaps would have been the WTF result of the day, had France not lost at home to Belarus already. First post Domenec game, but Anelka banned for 18 games, Evra for three etc

For Portugal, Carlos Queiroz being banned for six months this week, probably had some effect here, I reckon.

Well done for finding a live feed of the Estonia game in Cambridge, BBC TV Sport didn?t even show highlights today.

Good thing that Portugal lost points. Though realistically, it's really obvious that Portugal and Denmark will advance from group H :p

Pfff! In Drillo we trust!:p

I'll be amazed if Portugal reaches the Euro. They're more concentrated in their circle jerk to play ball... that was pathetic.

Gogo Scandinavia! :p

We're doing some good things against Iceland, still lacking a goal though.

*Edit*

Finally!

1-0 in the 90th minute!
