The FOOTball thread

Watching the US v. Nederland match....and I thought the Italians were divers. A couple of these Dutch players have no honor.

They just can't handle Team America World Police bringing them freedom.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...and-and-Arsenal-forward-Robin-van-Persie.html

That's good news, initial reports in November ruled him out for the season, meaning he might have been left off the World Cup squad for lack of match fitness. If he comes back next month it could really help Arsenal's title hopes and RVP's chances of getting into the Dutch WC squad.

Only two weeks till the big opening in our new baby! :D MLS 2010 !!! :D!!!!

Nasri's goal was AWESOME.

David Beckham of AC Milan & England has broken his Achilles tendon.

This was reported on BBC TV?s MotD 2 Sunday evening football program.

The World Cup is, I think, about 88 days away and this type of injury can take several months to get over.*

Italian journalists are reporting that he is unlikely to play at what would have been his last competition.

Sad for Becks. :(

*I broke my Achilles tendon playing squash once and it took four months before I was out of plaster cast and able to start physiotherapy.

BBC TV commentator at the Everton game yesterday speculated that Landon Donovan had played his last game for the Toffees and would be returning for the MLS season.
He went over to the supporters at the end of the match and waved them goodbye.
:)

I have an idea!

Everyone, post your absolute favourite goal that you've ever seen in football.

I have quite a few contenders but i think my personal favourite has to be Wayne Rooney against Newcastle a fair few seasons ago. I remember watching it live and it took me about 20mins to pick my mouth up off the floor.

That is really going to be the crown jewel of US football for the foreseeable future. Philadelphia's new stadium looks pretty nice, and I think Kansas City is going to do it proper too. Sadly, major market teams that have had large followings (LA Galaxy, Chicago Fire) are going to be stuck with older Soccer Only stadiums that won't get replacing, which is a shame.

^ Are you guys going to start a new MLS thread or post news here?

I currently know very little, but would be intersted to know more about the MLS season.

How many FG Sports Forum MLS followers are there out there who will post here?
:)

I don't think there are enough MLS fans to merit a new thread. Probably only a couple of us here. Its a quality 3rd rate league, its not EPL great, and its not Bundesliga very good, but it is pretty good football. Large South American influence on the game and the way its played here.

F*ck Failadelphi

I'm hoping our Scandinavian revolution brings better football than the negative crap we've had the past few years in MLS. Also if your interested in the league here's the NY fansite : http://metrofanatic.com/

Great News!!!
U.S. forward Davies resumes training
SOCHAUX, France -- American forward Charlie Davies has resumed training less than six months after he was nearly killed in a car accident.

Still recovering from injuries sustained in the Oct. 13 crash in Virginia, Davies rejoined his Sochaux club last week after several weeks of rehabilitation. The club says he went for a jog Monday morning.

The 23-year-old player will keep working with a physiotherapist before joining his teammates in 2-4 weeks.

Davies was likely to be on the U.S. World Cup squad before the crash.

His injuries included two broken bones in his right leg, a broken and dislocated left elbow, a broken nose, forehead and eye socket, a ruptured bladder and bleeding on the brain

I know it is a long shot, but if he is able to make the World Cup roster, I will be ecstatic.
