BBC Sport - Robin van Persie: Man Utd agree ?24m deal with Arsenal for striker

Ah-Haaaaaaa! (Alan Partridge style.) So this is why Peter is a happy-Red.

Well done to Man U for getting him, if he's going from the Gunners, I'd prefer he stayed in an EPL team.

(Predict there will be a lot of grumpy-Gunners on FG with )

And as always ?20m of that was worth it just to generate thousands of miserable Gooners!

Prediction for United v Arsenal at OT this season......

"You're just our feeder club, you're just our feeder club.........."

I'm not sure how I feel about this. 24 mill for a 29 year old injury prone player?
But then again, if he is haveing a season like last season, then we will win the pl. One thing is for sure now though, we got one hell of an attacking force. Just need to boost up the defence a bit. But we are running out of time there:(

Yeah, yeah. Remind me again how that public offering to pay off your INSANE debts is going there United? Go fuck your selves. You're going to be the next Rangers, and we'll laugh all the while.

What public offering? Also, United is too valuable to go bust and unlike Rangers it is makeing a lot of money. But I still want Glazers gone!

You can buy stock in ManU now, ala Facebook. And much like Facebook, its prices are plummeting.

The idea from the Glazers was to make the company public, so it could help alleviate some of their debt because it'll become an issue if unchecked in a few years, and by doing this, the club actually LOST more money then it stood to make.

They need to sell players and scale back, its the only way. Instead, they gave Arsenal 24m on a pretty risky player then brag about the Gunners being their feeding club.

The stock flotation is fine. It started at $14, it currently sits at $13.50. That is perfectly ok, although it isn't worth paying attention to until the long term trend starts forming in a few months. And frankly it makes no difference to the money the club has anyway.
Don't forget that Arsenal had huge debt with the new stadium and you've manage to deal with it and keep yourself in the top 4 every year. In comparison we've dealt with our massive debts while keeping ourselves in the running for the league every single year.

It's no coincidence this all happened just before the opening weekend. It's to get fair weather fans and fence sitters revved up and buy into the club, be it tickets, merch or online viewing.

Obligatory: You can't spell Liverpool with out LOL

Seemed a rather half-assed effort from Arsenal today. Only a few decent chances, Cazorla impressed. Podolski looked rather indifferent in his runs, though that is a knock against him often. Can't believe Giroud hooked his best chance just wide. With Song departing, I'm hoping they use the RvP/Song funds and continue to shore up.

Erm, wrong thread. Why do we have too football threads again? :(

Podolski wouldn't have missed an open chance like that. Arsenal is slowly sinking toward mediocrity, but hey what's new.

Scottish Football

Yeah, they have their own leagues up there for those who don't know much about it.
Somewhat dominated for decades by two Glasgow clubs, Celtic and Rangers.

Rangers went bust, went into legal administration (a bit like Chapter 11 in the USA) and because of this they got "kicked out" of the leagues. Then got a repreve in that they were allowed to join in the bottom tier, which Scottish League 3.

Imagine if this happened in La Liga in Spain, if Barca or Real were demoted to the bottom league.

:jawdrop:

BBC Sport - Rangers: Life in Scottish Division Three beckons

(If you go into administration, the rules conclude that you have spent WAY TOO MUCH money on top players & wages, giving your club an unfair advantage over others. Or something like that.)

3-2 win over Portland, but our defending and overall play was piss poor. Can't complain after being down 2-0 in 20 minutes, and equalizing before half time. Then again "We're just like Man City Just LIKE MAN CITY!!!!!!!!!"
