I used to have a 1 in 18 scale model of this car 10 years ago. I then saw Ona top gear replay and Jeremy Clarkson said something like "It had a top speed of 40" but looking at the specs it has 700+ bhp.

What did he actually think of the gt90 and was it any good?

I don't recall exactly, but I think he said something along the lines of "It has comedy handling".

Oh yeah lol, its all coming back. Im gonna try and find a video on it.

Hehe, I remember someone saying it handled like crap or something along those lines.. It's a cool looking concept, but a bit like the Countach I guess.. looks cool on a bedroom poster, in real life.. err yeah..
Btw, because it's a concept car, it's probably artificially limited to 40 mph like most concept cars, keeps them from getting scratched up ;)

Well it was a car in The Need For Speed II and it was aweful.

Really? :? I also thought it sucked. :p

I recently installed the original NFS SE again. :)

Quite an interesting concept back in 1995 - one of the cars that I cannot really categorise, but looking at today it seems to be a little bit dated and doesn't reach the olymp of all time classics in my opinion. I wouldn't call it ugly, though.

It was also in GT2 or GT3, and even there it was rubbish. Far too heavy!

You have the original NFS?? Man, I bought it when it came out, but I sold it to a guy and now I really regret it. It was my favourite racing game ever...

I have it too, but er... it doesn't run on a modern PC

You can get NFS SE (the windows version) to run on Windows XP (you have to jump through a few hoops to install it though).

You probably could get the dos version to run using DoxBox or VirtualPC.

The reason the GT 90 had comedy handling is because it was never developed as a serious car. It was just a prototype - rough finish, the parts may be there for 700hp, but chassis and whatnot is usually borrowed from another car or cobbled together from other bits. The first Ford GT concept on Top Gear was the same way - it looked done, but really wasnt safe to drive beyond like 20mph.

^Hammond DID mention it had a top speed of 20.

"and it handled, like it was in a cartoon" :)

damn that review was probably on the old TG, i need to see that. This used to be one of my favorite cars when i was 10. The interior was all blue with an aluminum shifter (i think) with awesome blue dials and a really angular unusual carbon fiber dashboard. weird how this all just came back to me.
i voted it looked cool because it looks unlike most cars. but a work of art it is not.
