At my school, you'd never get detention for that. It doesn't make much sense to send a kid to detention for such a minor one off thing. If he did things like that repeatedly and on a larger scale then we'd talk.

Agreed, without really knowing the back story to the picture there's no way if it was a deserving punishment or too harsh. for all we know he could have been a real git and constantly making trouble.

Srsly, it looks like they've just been sprung by the cops (not pictured) having 'fun' in the snow in what they thought was a 'secluded spot'. 'Uhh..hello officer'. :lmao:

In grade 8 I once got sent to the office by a jagoff teacher who happened to walk in our room and ask where our teacher was and I was like "huhuh she fell down a well :p " A joke so lame that even the joke's aware of how lame it is... and he's just like "whoever you are go to the office :mad: " What a jackass. True story, some teachers have literally less than no sense of humour.
 
Our teachers used to take the gum and stick it somewhere where it would hurt peeling it off and you weren't allowed to take it off until class was over, when the gum was well hard and stuck.

I've never understood detention or teachers getting mad over gum, the right punishment for finding gum under a seat or desk makes doing that more bad than good. All my teachers in high school so far have had decently fair rules for chewing gum: chewing like a horse, spit it out; caught sticking the gum to surfaces, cleaning the desks; playing with your gum, throw it out. In middle school, if you so much as showed a gum wrapper you had to empty your pockets.
