Ownership Verified: The horse has bolted. Meet the Pferdchen!

Gotta say this thing is not my taste at all, but I'm still interested in a ride in it.

In regards to getting rid of the smoking smell, you'd need to attack all fabric surfaces with a detergent vacuum cleaner, which probably means pulling the seats out, all leather with industrial strength cleaning agents and then leaving it to cook in the sun for at least 24 hours.

I found it's easier to just pay €100-150 for a man to do it for me.

I need to find someone local to sort it out...

Not gonna lie, I thought the title meant yet another German had bought a Mustang. Interesting choice!

I am not ready to join that particular horse club :-D

Very interesting choice, and it looks really good! Looking forward to some comfortable rides at the Ringmeet. Or maybe shoot me a message next time you come around Frankfurt :)

Smoker car... I would definitely let a specialist handle that, and one with good recommendations at that. The smell can be very hard to get rid of, and I personally absolutely can't stand it, though some people are less affected by it. Should at least be a little easier with leather, with full cloth seats I'd say it's impossible to ever completely eliminate it.

I will let you know! And yeah, it will never be possible to 100% eliminate it I don't think. Let's see.

This is why I love Final Gear, even if I wasn't a member until yesterday.

You live in the land that is known to make luxobarges, that basically set the standard of the luxury saloon class with the S-Class, that is synonymous with great-quality cars in many parts of the world. The logical thing would be to get a used S-Class, 7-Series or an A8. But what did you do? Not only you bought a foreign car, you bought a grey-market import at that, which was never intended to see the roads of Germany. An absolutely irrational decision, and I fully support it!

I support your support! :D

I'm sitting here giggling after watching the Hoovies video and the speed runs with wheelspin, I really wasn't expecting this and it seems like a brilliant find. I never even knew these existed and I can't quite wrap my head around it being a US import. I need to up my game...

However you've ruined another difficult Ringmeet pub quiz question because now everyone knows than an Equus is a Hyundai. :p

hehe, yeah, I couldn't resist! - And I am sorry for ruining the quiz!

My MX-5 does the same airbag thing, for what it's worth.

Also, that front camera placement is... a bit odd. There's no way that's factory, is it?

The camera is 100% factory - The Signature has no front camera, the Ultimate does

Really cool purchase! ?

Thanks!

For the smoke smell, I've heard of detailers here use something called an Ozone machine. I know nothing about them, just that those machines will get rid of nasty smells in cars.

I also watched a few videos of this, I have not looked into the price of an Ozone machine yet though.

Gotta say this thing is not my taste at all, but I'm still interested in a ride in it.

You will!

Congrats!

Also, I've been waiting to do this for days...

Good gravy it's been a long time since I saw that. Well, there goes an entire evening.

Anyway I really like the idea of being chauffeured around the Ring while getting a massage. :p

If I was in the market for not-a-4WD, I would gladly spend $20K on one of these over most other vehicles. I have bikes for going fast, this is the ultimate road trip car.

Congrats on the purchase! :)

Usually people call shotgun for Ring laps, now they'll be fighting for rear seats (in case you ring it at all) :D

Right rear seat is where it's at :D

Congrats!

I can sing along with that I know it so well!

What kind of bore buys a Hyundai? ?

Congrats though, they’re excellent cars. And since you’re not a moron like me, you got the full zoot V8 model that’s actually capable of burnouts.

And once I do a mod, it will also drift ... :D

You magnificent idiot you, only you can buy such a car like this. I love it.

Thank you :)

As I said, right rear seat :D

Indeed it is - Don't the later versions have AWD? I can also recommend the LS460, they have an AWD model - Although they are a bit older for similar pricing.

And second fill gives me some real economy numbers:

A bit worse than expected, but I have been driving quite aggressively.

That’s amazing for a V8 sedan.

I de-smoked Max by soaking it in Febreze over night......needed around four bottles.
But I guess you can also pay for the Ozone stuff, that is supposed to work really well.

This is so left field it's playing on the adjacent pitch! Full marks to you for buying something completely different and unexpected.

I look forward to a waft in the Eifel.

Good choice. I remember Der Stig and I sitting in one at a Hyundai dealer, going over it in detail and deciding both of us would much rather have one of these than a contemporary S-class.

The airbag seems to be an Asian thing. My Mazda does the same.

It's a USDM thing - the majority of cars on the US market have something like this, which was a reaction to the issues with the early mandated airbags doing things like killing children and smaller women or deploying when there was nobody in the seat. A significant proportion of USDM cars (not just US make, mind) also have the aforementioned key-operated passenger airbag deactivation switch for when the occupant classification system that controls the passenger airbag they're using doesn't actually correctly classify the occupant. :\ Saving myself some typing here: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...-groceries-can-turn-off-the-passenger-airbag/

It MUST be a setting that can be turned off with OBD, right? Change the car's region to EU instead of US.

I honestly have no idea for this car, but on many current vehicles that light is hardwired to the occupant classification system. No way to turn it off short of cutting wires or disconnecting/removing bulbs/LEDs. This light being on was probably the most annoying thing in the various Genesis I've piloted at night.

Edit: Looked on a couple of Hyundai forums just now; looks like this is an across the line design decision and the general advice to fix it is "apply some tape to cover it." ?

So, the airbag light thing doesn't bother me at night at all, so I won't bother to "fix" it.

I am nearly out of fuel on my second tank, so soon we will see what a more cruisy style of driving and longer distance get's.

I also found a new problem with the car, there is rust on the boot lid - I have already ordered some touch up paint and I will just rust treat it and sand it down then touch it up. It is on both sides of the boot in a weird spot, it's just like the paint has worn off and now there is some surface rust.

It will be fixed once the paint arrives.
