Perhaps this is better suited for the Game Forum but oh well. Anyways, recently I've been trying to figure out what I would buy on a 50k budget. It can be new or used, stock or modded, one car or 50. $50k cap, assuming you start with nothing (aka you can't have start with your current car and add 50k worth of other cars to it). Also, assume that your significant other has a car or w/e... basically, you're just shopping for yourself.

I've had pretty much everything on my list. Various Audis (from RS4 to TT to S5), BMWs (E60 M5, E39 540i, every gen M3, etc), Corvettes, NSX, Cayman, 911, Supra, etc etc etc. Latest list is as follows: 2005 Impreza STi with some basic mods; MkIV VW R32 with a supercharger or turbo; and an Lancia Integrale (found one for just under 10k; see ebay thread) S2000. What's your list?

edit: did some research and its a major PITA to register a Lancia. My 10k goes towards an s2k then

Mk 2. Escort and something to live with everyday.

...

TWO Mk 2 ESCORTS! :D

Here it goes

De Tomaso Pantera - Average ebay price $30 000
1979 Chevy El Camino - $3000 for the car, then $6000 for upgraded drivetrain (350/6spd)
197x Jeep CJ 5 - ~ $10 000 for a fully resto modded example.

$1000 to spare.

993-series Porsche 911 2S - ~35,000
$15,000 worth of modifications.

Orrr
930-series Porsche 911 Turbo - ~35,000
$15,000 worth of modifications.

Buy an early on NSX, then supercharge it for around $5000-$8000.

Awesomeness with some honda reliability thrown in.

Invest the rest in an E34 M5 or something.

I would either buy a brand new high-end Alfa Brera or Alfa 159, depending on the size of vehicle I need at the time.

If practicality was completely out the window, then I would buy a used Aston Martin DB7 or possibly a V8 Vantage if I could find one in the price range.

$50k is about ?30k.

Hmm, I would possibly get a Morgan Aero 8, however unfortunately it would have to be the pre-facelift model (not as pretty as the later ones), or maybe a DB7, again unfortunately not a GT. But still...

And if you're this kinda guy, then you could pick up an E-Type for as little as about ?22k, then spruce it up a tad.

An NSX and an FD. Simple. (oh and keep my car and put a 3 rotor in it with the spare money :D)

In the UK the conversions don't work like that, as far as I know. American cars, for example, cost a lot more there. Might want to keep that in mind, as you may be able to up that 30k figure a bit.

It seems to me like half the time they just cross off the $ and replace it with ?.

Ohhh...that's difficult. 50k will be just about enought to buy (not maintain:() a DB7, and I really want one!

1- Miata. ?5000. Lightly modded: +?1000.
2- Old, aircooled Porsche 911. ?10,000. Modern upgrades (better brakes, suspension, stereo, interior bits). ?4000.
3- BSA Goldstar. ?5000.

Total: ?25,000 (around $40,000). Plenty to spare for maintenance and insurance.

2010 Camaro SS -or- '69 Chevelle SS + LS3 $35,000
Slightly used Triumph Street Triple (maybe the R if it's a good enough price) $7,000
4x4 pickup of some sort $8,000

1 Brit: late 90s XJ-6 (EDIT: or as suggested by the Fonz, XJR for Autobahn cruising)

1 German: Smart Roadster Coupe

1 Italian: 60s Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600
