^Agreed, but that growling dude should just fuck off and die. Not only does he not fit in to the songs but he is also really REALLY bad...

I wouldn't say he's necessarily bad, but he doesn't fit the mood at all.

I havent really listened to much Epica in ages. Certainly not since Consign to Oblivion, which was the only really decent song on that album anyway. I hear they have a new album out which I'll have to get one of these days.

oh, and Karoug, I'm going to Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation on Wednesday night. Be jealous. Kinda...:p

Just went to see Fear Factory last Friday. First time they played in Brazil and boy, Burton C. Bell can growl.

I got home a couple of hours ago from the Dream Theater/Pain of Salvation concert. Pain of Salvation were pretty good, although the bass was mixed a little too high which meant we couldn't really hear Gildenlow's vocals. I like Pain of Salvation so I enjoyed that part of the concert.

Dream Theater were brilliant as usual, but the setlist sucked. They played stuff mainly from their latest album Black Clouds and Silver Linings. They're a band usually known for their progressive elements, but this concert just took it to a whole new level of wankery. I didn't think Black Clouds and Silver Linings was a very good album to begin with anyway. Most of the songs are very long and tended to all sound the same after a while, especially when LaBrie disappears off stage and leaves it to Petrucci, Rudess and Portnoy for 10 minutes or so just droning on with little apparent direction or inspiration.

Ending the show with The Count of Tuscanny was a mistake in my opinion. I didn't like this song on the album, and I liked it even less live. 20 minutes of uninspiring lyrics, progressive wankery, and poor pacing through-out. They didn't even play The Shattered Fortress off that album, which is the only song really worth listening to because it mixes in elements of The Grass Prison and Octavarium - real crowd pleasers which would've gone down nicely, especially if they thrashed them out a little. I know the tour is in support of that album and all, but it would've been nice to have some of the older stuff as well. They played As I Am, which was a welcome relief as it's a heavy, punchy song I actually knew :p.

Still, the band themselves were brilliant as ever. They're all first class musicians, but Portnoy has to be one of the best drummers in the business, still in awe of how he can stand up and act the showman, while still maintaining a powerful double bass beat. His drumming was the highlight of the show.

My only complaint about Hordes of Chaos is that the clip is very much
like a Manowar album cover, or Manowar anything really.

But overall, very nice album.
Though I prefer Enemy of God to it, it's still a good album.
And very good band live too.

Death - Spirit Crusher. (R.I.P. Chuck).

Deicide - Walk With the Devil in Dreams You Behold.

Thy Serpent - Like a Funeral Veil of Melancholy.

Unfortunately though, because it's over 10 minutes, that person hasn't uploaded the full song (it's 11:28 long).

Oh and something else I enjoy:

The Clash - Train in Vain and London Calling, on their first US tv appearance.
Can't get a much better double header than that!
