8GB of portable media goodness. I've been wanting a good workout MP3 player for a while and Newegg gave me an offer I couldn't refuse: $80 with a free car pack and no shipping. It's like someone washed my older 80GB version on too hot of a setting. :p

Kingston 32GB CompactFlash card + iPod mini 2nd gen. It has this annoying habit of suddenly not recognizing the card, hence why I've named it "basket case", but once I figure that out, nothing can stop me now.

I've had 2 iPod minis, and I have to say that the batteries suck. You can't leave them plugged into a charger overnight, or after a few months the batteries won't hold a charge at all. I RMA'd the first one, and the second one can now run about 40 minutes on a single charge, useless. The alu-casing is pretty neat though :)

Big rant:
WHY CANT NVIDIA MAKE A FUCKING DRIVER WORK CORRECTLY FOR A NEW PRODUCT?! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Using 185.85 under XP 32bit, I can't play games. At all. You get 2 minutes to use your mouse+keyboard in game, then poof. Its all fuckin gone. Reloaded the OS, same deal. CTRL+ALT+DEL will work, but when the task manager appears, you cant touch it, as the game has grabbed you by the balls and locked the kb+mouse. Drop the 8800 back in without touching the drivers, and boom, it works fine. Works fine under 7..

Set on Ultra quality, but has alot of issues with pop-up foliage.

It's like someone washed my older 80GB version on too hot of a setting. :p

So it doesn't boot up at all? The hard disk must've been cooked by the hot water....

Actually for a little while the 80GB was giving me some trouble with a blank screen but some playing around with the firmware/software fixed that. That problem is what got me started looking at MP3 players again and I stumbled across this deal. Works for me.

You don't do your own laundry, do you..

As a matter of fact, I just finished the laundry

It is difficult to express sarcasm and tonal differences with words on the interweb...

^ hey I have one of those....absolutely love it.

Been wanting to get this guitar for a while now...

still busy making up my mind about it....... what should I do?

While I've played 2-3 nice Epiphones...that was no better than a 1:10 ratio of good to bad. They are few and far between...like MIM Strats.

However...

There's a company called Agile that makes INCREDIBLE value guitars and they are probably even the same company that makes the Epiphone, maybe in the same factory.

Not very well known, but I know quite a few people who have them and are absolutely blown away.

If you're looking for an LP-style guitar:

If you're just looking for a badass-looking guitar, there are quite a few in their listing:

(agiles start on this page, and go up in price as you go up in pages.)

Agile 8-string neck-through, less than $700 before shipping:

Twice a year (I think) they take custom orders and it's amazing what you can get. You want a neck-through LP-style guitar with a contoured neck heel, floyd and a top AND back figured wood? Done...and still dirt cheap compared to even an Eiphone LP.

Wow, those Agile guitars seem to be excellent deals, I just wish they made more basses.

In fact, if they made an affordable 4-string fretless acoustic-electric bass, that would be awesome. I guess I'll just have to keep dreaming... unless I end up getting that $200 Dean EAB that's been getting solid reviews.

$799, it plays as good as an electric, and sounds better "plugged in" than most acoustics when plugged in. No charge for fretless.

Otherwise Cort are great. They make TONS of guitars and basses for other companies. I've got a Cort acoustic guitar, and I love it.

That Cort is a beauty, but I'd be mostly playing it unplugged so I'm skeptical of how loud that body design might be. I'll see if I can find one to play locally, though.

Hm.. Yeah you're right, it doesn't have to be an Epiphone, can be just any LesPaul shaped guitar. I already have an Ibanez back in Durban which I'm thinking of selling. Or I can bring it back to the states and do a trade-in for a new one.. The second last picture of the black EP style guitar is pretty nice, I'll see if I can stretch my budget a bit more.

Thanks.

If I could a) play guitar remotely competently b) had a pile of monies I'd be all over a maton :D

If you were talking about the Carvin, good luck with finding ANY locally...then finding a bass, then finding an ACOUSTIC bass... :p They only have stores in California. I posted an ad on Craigslist looking for someone to just let me play theirs, and I got 3 responses...all from people saying that this was a good idea because they've wanted to play a Carvin, too. :p Since I have one now, I'm a convert.

However, they do financing, and more importantly, a no-risk 10-day trial period. All you're out is shipping if you don't like it. And, they have pre-made instruments in their "instock" section for $1-200 off regular price, but not many acoustic basses...in fact, I think there's only one right now, and it's not fretless...and it might be a 5-string...

Hahaha, I must have had Cort on the brain after reading the second half of your post, I did mean the Carvin.

I'll look into it more, I'll be down in SoCal in June so I might have time to take a swing by one of their stores and have an audition. That Dean EAB is just so stupid cheap I might get one anyway and look at the Carvins later.

Hahaha, I just noticed that's the exact guitar my brother plays, and he loves it to death. It's awesome to look at and apparently very nice to play.
