570? Wow. I saw a single slot GTX 460 for $260 and was surprised they managed to make that work. Then again, one of the reviews mentioned that the new fancy cooling on those Fermi cards managed to keep it quite cool, so I suppose it could be done with the 570 in a good case.

Taking a gamble, hoping the $20 saving over the veritable WRT45GL is worth it. Her budget was $500.
 
That's what I figured. Worst come to worst, she can have my WRT and I'll just be forced to buy a fancy N router later on.

So far my experience has been very good. Do note that I use it as a ghetto NAS and WAP but routing duties are handled by something more hardcore.

I'd go (and have gone) the netgear/cisco route. IMO having the ability to have custom FW is a BIG bonus, especially since I can run some more exotic services on these routers
