I've had to heavily edit the picture because of being right in the centre of Birmingham, but for a first attempt I'm quite pleased with it. I'm going to try in the countryside at some point as the picture was almost totally orange until I dragged it through photoshop. It's a 10min exposure at F3.2 though, so perhaps if I knocked it down a little it'd help reduce the orangeness.

It was pure accident that I pointed it at the North Star. I'm impressed that the stars have streaked as much as they have, so I'll have to experiment in the future. It took almost as long for the camera to process the image after the exposure though, so I might turn off noise reduction next time :p

Wow that is an amazing picture.

It is quite odd that it was pointed exactly towards the North star. I was surprised that a 10 min exposure would give you so much movement. Quite the picture man, can't wait to see more.

try a good ND filter. It'll help you capture movement while letting in less light.

Yeah. I was thinking of getting one, although I was looking at graduated ones for landscapes. There are so many different kinds though, it's hard to choose!

I think I would have succeeded better outside the city. To the naked eye, you can see the major stars, but there is an orange tint to the sky, unless you look very high. I'm off to Vancouver in 10 days so I'll hopefully get an opportunity to go into the mountains in the evening when it's getting dark. That would be an ideal location to get some nice shots.
