The Post Your Pets Thread

You know there's pills you can give to the cat to make him more relaxed while on trips, right? Check with your vet. Seriously, giving away your 5-year old pet just because your moving to another place? Pets are like family members, would you give for adoption your 5-year old son just because he would cry all the way during the car trip?

She is miserable riding in the car - she hates it. And no, I wouldn't give my son up for adoption when I moved. I also wouldn't keep him drugged for 5 days either.

And did you not see the post above where I mentioned that she was bad for my asthma? My doctor had been wanting me to give her up for the past year. I refused because she was the only family I had out here. And as much as I hated surrendering her, my breathing has improved markedly. But I'm supposed to keep her while I struggle to breathe and lose my health insurance (And asthma medication) in 3 months? If I die from an untreated asthma attack how does that help her?

I'm also moving to a rural part of New Hampshire. How long do you think a declawed (By the previous owners in case you're thinking of neg-repping me again) housecat would last in the country if she were to get out of the house? Between the foxes, fishers and bobcats, she wouldn't last a day.

I asked everyone I knew and tried every no kill shelter in my area - no one would take her. This is not a decision I made lightly, don't assume that it is because you don't know half of the facts.

Love that last one.

"I suppose you are wondering why I asked you here? Please, take a seat."

I personally like the sixth one. "Socialist cat is looking towards the future, with cheezburgers for all the prolitaricats"."

A test with my new 35mm lens. Something isn't quite right with the photo, but she's still cute. :p

What a sweetie!

Also, happiness is a cat in a bag... ^_^

Had some bags lying around after buying a couple of summer tops at popular local factory clearance store after work on Friday, Silas got in it first and rolled over and over for a bit, and then Hilda decided to copy him. She eventually fell asleep in it while I was watching TV.

^ While she may be a sweetie, I am still a cat person, and yours looks identical to our old cat; only ten years in the future

As for Saf, I took the camera on our walk today and got a couple of better photos than the last one. Also despite the fact this isn't the Lens Flair thread, I've started spending much more time editing them (more than 10 seconds of a few RAW sliders) and can get much better shots from what I actually take.

Here I tried to get her to pose, but she just started digging instead.

Looks like Thor and Odin are about to get a new baby sister. Mrs stiggie knows somebody who adopted a kitten that was found abandoned a day or two after Christmas. It was only about six weeks old. They have been living with it for a couple of weeks now but are worried that their bull terrier is going to eat it, so we'll probably end up with her. She is white and champagne coloured and if she joins us she'll be named Freya.

Rosie on christmas day morning and opening her presents. Apologies for the quality in the video. Still not used to recording, the flash and so on.

Meet Freya-

Odin and Thor are NOT happy. They are hissing and growling at her like crazy. They're pretty much full-grown now and should be ashamed of themselves for being so scared of a little girl. We've got her isolated in our guest bedroom with her own litter tray and food bowl. Thor seems to be getting curious about her but still hisses if she sticks a paw out under the door. Odin growls at any sound she makes on the other side of the door.

CAT FIGHT!

3 Cats enter, 1 cat leaves!

Good luck, stiggie, you may need it. Even though they may have been neutered this might trigger the boys into spraying around the house which is a totally foul thing to have to put up with the smell is almost impossible to shift. The only way to deal would then be to rehome them as I had to do with guys a few years ago after they killed a second toaster! Trust me, coming back into a kitchen that is filled with the smell of hot cat piss is not something you want to experience.

And she is adorable!

Yeah, here's hoping that doesn't happen.

I don't usually give my cats milk but as a treat I am taking Odin (Thor doesn't like milk) into her room and giving them each some milk to drink while he is in there. It will lead to him associating Freya with positive experiences. I drink lactose free milk, so they can handle it. Now I just need to figure out what to bribe positively reinforce Thor with.

Edit: I really need to stop getting cats now. I'm running out of names of Norse gods and goddesses that I can pronounce.
