TIL the term "flying saucer" was never meant to be a description of a UFO's appearance by the person who first used "saucer" to describe UFOs.

In 1947, the man who described a UFOs with the word "saucer" never meant that what he saw looked like a flying saucer. When a reporter asked him to describe how the UFOs moved, he stated they "flew erratic, like a saucer if you skip it across the water". The reporter used the term "flying saucer", and from that point on, people began regularly describing UFOs as "flying saucers".

Super interesting how the cloud is nearly exactly the same size/shape as the lake under it. It makes perfect sense, but it's still interesting.
