Well, summer has just arrived here, so I decided to buy a cheap 4WD I could take onto surf beaches and generally bash about. It's a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder and she's a beaut.

The car behind is my other vehicle, the Magna.

Here's the interior. I decided to pull it apart as the speedo needle had melted in the sun and was dragging against the backing. As a result it was stuck on 40km/h. I got the hair dryer out and remelted it back into shape.

I always liked the rear side window arrangement of the Terrano, looks like it's the right car for your purpose (Summer, lucky you - it's 8 degrees, raining all day and getting dark at 4.30pm here  )

Oh, and if I may ask - how cheap was it exactly?

wow... the Exterior of the car does not look 1988 at all, looks like mid-late 90's, and I think 88's Pathfinders go from abt 2-4k AUD, or 1.5-3k USD

Have fun with it Magnet, although I don't like summers :p

Yeah, I bought it for 3k. It's a pretty good price for what it is. I plan on selling it at the end of summer anyway.

love it

What a rather ugly bullbar! :?

Looks like massive amounts of fun, very clean for a car that's almost as old as I am! My neighbor has 2 in varying stages of decomposition, and they're definitely cool trucks. 8)

What a rather ugly bullbar! :?
Yeah, seriously. You could strap some spotlights on there and light up Yankee Stadium.

That's actually a roo-bar, they were designed to be lighter and still able to sustain the force of a roo hitting the car.:)

But yes, I agree it is ugly and I was considering removing it. However, I've just noticed it's great for seeing where your car ends form the driver's seat. Perfect for those tight situations.

A few photos from exploring Perth's hills earlier today.

Nice pics :)

That looks like the perfect terrain to do some 4X4'ing in. Theres something very attractive about the isolation of the bush, by which I mean WA. There really is nothing in that state apart from Perth.

Too right about isolation. I almost got lost in the hills after driving down ever narrowing dirt roads for two hours. Maps only show you so much. Good fun terrain to go exploring in though.

She's gone. Drove away about 5 minutes ago. I had advertised it for a while, but had zero calls.

I dropped the price this weekend; a guy rang me in the morning, came to have a look, drove it, was happy, forked over the cash, and drove away with it 20 minutes later.

It is a sad day, but I certainly got my money's worth out of the car. I'm looking forward to selling the Magna next, and hopefully getting something else.

A Liberty GT perhaps?
