The "Things that annoy me" thread

Trade fairs.

Yes, I know. It’s been a bit difficult to get hold of people this week because there’s a fair and everyone in my trade is busy doing everything but actual work.

This bullshit:

a.k.a. “I want attention!” 🙄

Flipping e-bike shops/salespeople. Our kids are going to change school from a school close to us to a school close to where my wife works, which also means a 15km trip instead of a 1km trip. For the two youngest kids (4 and 5 years old) it's going to be to far for riding there own bikes. So the plan is to replace my wife's current e-bike with an electric longtail so both kids can sit in the back (we both hate those wide cargo bikes with buckets). It's a pretty niche market so finding a store that has one on display and/or available for a testride isn't easy to begin with (which I understand), but the few we have visited so far were far from helpful. The first one refused to let us test it with two kids on it (which is the whole point of buying said bike) and only on their parking lot. The second one allowed us to test it with two kids on it (only because we kept on pushing) and again only allowed to test it within viewing range of the store, even though their own website and the automated e-mail we received after booking the appointment for the testride stated that if you left your ID behind you could take it for a 30min testride on the streets.

Is it so much to ask for a proper testride in real world conditions before paying 3000-6000euro for an e-bike?

The fact that today’s Tagesschau actually wasted EIGHT minutes (so more than 50% of its air time) on friggin soccer. The top eight minutes, as well. Are you FUCKING serious? Is it such a slow news day? is there really NOTHING more important right now? EIGHT OF YOUR FIFTEEN MINUTES???

How long have you been living in Germany?

I know I know but THAT much?

also it just doesn’t make any bloody sense? Anyone who’s interested already knows or has watched some other sports centered show, no? 🤷‍♂️

I’ve hated the predominance of sports ever since I was a child.

Tour de France? Sorry, no kids TV in the afternoon. Football? Sorry, today’s episode of your favourite show will air when we can be bothered to find a slot. Tennis? Just don’t bother to turn your TV on.

It’s one of the many reasons why linear TV is on its richly deserved way out.

I knew the outcome even before consuming any news. Cycling through totally empty streets, seeing only one (sad looking) person in a yellow jersey walk home, and past a totally empty football pub between 17:15 and 17:30 told be everything I needed to know. :D

(Despite the smiley, I am annoyed. But not surprised, because I expected something like this...)

So...is this a thing now? Are people so bored or starved for interpersonal contact that they reply to Craigslist ads with just comments about the item, but with no desire to buy it? Have Craigslist ads become Facebook? Did they get kicked off NextDoor after getting booted from Facebook?

I was selling a hand mixer, and got two replies from seemingly two different people:
"Good luck with your sale!"
"I used to have one like that but a different brand I think"

I was giving away some of my drawings from my drawing class. I got a reply from someone just saying that there are drawing classes at the local community college. That was it.

"Influencers" are a plague on the world, but IMO there's also a scurge of people who feel like everything they see online requires their unique perspective and comments.

I'm reminded of the people who answer "Does anyone know if..." questions on Amazon listings with, "No, sorry."

I had a solid 7 hours of sleep last night and yet I feel like I need another 7 hours.

Yes. This. Fuck sports on TV. It steamrolls over everything else on the schedule.

The sports enthusiasts even have their own channels that show nothing but sports, but that's not good enough.

I was given the duty to research and select a laptop for my girlfriend. She started her own business and wanted to be able to work while out of the house, and with me taking remote classes, we couldn't share a computer anymore.

So I pick one, and almost immediately we have a USB port issue then neither I, nor Lenovo support can figure out over the phone or when they remote in, so we kinda just gave up, since we had enough ports on our hub and all of the other laptop USB ports worked.

But, we knew going in that the laptop's 16GB of RAM was potentially an issue, so I bought a kit of 32GB Crucial, which listed this laptop as a compatible model, and installed it last week. Super uneventful, nothing got unplugged, nothing got dropped, etc.

Since the upgrade, it's stopped recognizing either of our two USB webcams in any USB port (even ones that work with other devices), her external monitor will sometimes go black for a second, sometimes her audio stops working where she can hear everyone else, but they can't hear her...

I hate that it makes me look like I made bad choices.
