To change tack...those toilet cleaner ads.
I must be looking at the wrong calendar again. I would swear it was 2011, not 1950. I know that not all goals have been achieved in terms of pay parity and rights, but they are a damn sight better than they used to be. But that is no reason, no reason at all to continue with the stereotype. Why do they piss me off? Because there are only women in them, never a guy. Yes, only women clean the bathroom, apparently. And are either doing it with either a 'overdosed on the antidepressants' or 'ninjagoingtodefeatallthegermsintheworld' look on our faces. The advertisers are also basically telling me that either 1) my life is at serious risk or 2) I will be shunned by all people I know unless my toilet is shiny and pristine at all times. Oh FFS!
*URGH*
There's also another ad on at present which is a follow on from one many years old. In the old ad, Pro Hart (an artist) makes a big 'painting' from messy stuff all over his carpet. His cleaner is then able to clean it up because of the excellent stain resistance of the carpet. Yes, issues with that ad, but not my current rant.
The new ad is Pro Hart's grandson doing a similar thing on his mother's carpet. Creating a huge 'painting' of a dragonfly made from food. But when it comes time for him to be cleaning it up, where is he? Nowhere to be found. Mum is the one on her hands and knees on the floor cleaning it up. Sorry, if that was my kid, stain resistant carpet or not, he would have first had his face smooshed into the mess, he would then be cleaning it up as I sat on the sidelines, supervising.
Yes kids, there are no such things as consequences, unless your toilet is dirty.
