The Trump Presidency - how I stopped worrying and learned to love the Hair

Trump was (is?) a major NYC real estate developer, of course him and former mayor would have a lot of history.

Giuliani's goons, what were they doing in 2014?

This explains a lot.

Trump’s Favorite Impeachment Lawyer Is ...Trump Himself

On Tuesday, the Office of the White House Counsel delivered an eight-page letter to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejecting the very legitimacy of the impeachment inquiry threatening this presidency.

The letter was notable not for the conclusion it reached—few suspected that the administration was going to cooperate with House Democrats—but for the broadsides and rhetorical flourishes it featured. That’s because this letter wasn’t fully written by lawyers.

It was crafted, in large part, by President Donald Trump himself.

According to two people familiar with the process, White House Counsel Pat Cipollone had multiple meetings with President Trump in the days leading up to the issuance of the letter. During those meetings with Cipollone, the president would get especially animated when names such as Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chair of the House Intelligence Committee leading the probe into the whistleblower complaint, came up. The sources said that Trump enthusiastically suggested adding various jabs at Democratic lawmakers and would request that their “unfair” treatment of him be incorporated into the letter.

No words could adequately describe how screwed up this is. Trump did this.

Exactly, and now Trump's move has gifted the Kurds to Assad and Russia.

Putin's long-term cyber-propaganda strategy is paying off fantastically.

First the aid to all the anti-euro political groups in Europe led to Brexit, then the aid (even just propaganda) to Trump's campaign led to him in the White House... and to things like this, a crystal clear US defeat and demonstration of weakness.

No. Stop watching Fox News.

I've been traveling and haven't paid much attention to the news, so help me understand what's going on. The article says that US troops have been planning a withdrawal for months now but it seems like no troops have actually been withdrawn yet. Sounds like the situation hasn't changed at this point, as far as US troops are concerned, and that the decision to eventually withdraw them isn't new or sudden. No?

Planning may have been taking place, but I doubt it was anywhere near complete, or the situation stable enough to take place.

That was before Turkey wanted to come in gun blazing and everything has turned to shit.

It keeps on getting ludicrous.

These are Berlusconi-style absurdities.

Not unsurprisingly, from a similar form of corrupted power.

What is ludicrous is how low the fake news media is willing to sink..
Somehow I can’t imagine that actual footage from a war zone is “nicer” than any video from a gun range; if that is what ABC News has shown.

For a guy who tied his future to blue collar jobs and the economy, things are not looking so great.

We are currently in the deepest slump in manufacturing since the Great Recession. Somehow he will try to blame Democrats, and his base will probably fall for it.

Just for fun, I decided to look up the cost of Trump's trade war in terms of farm bailouts.
So far we've spent about $20 Billion in farm bailouts - these are not loans, they are cash payments. To put that in perspective, the controversial Automaker Bailouts (which were a combination of loans and cash) only ended up costing the US about $10 Billion after the auto industry paid the government back - mostly because they recovered quickly and were able to pay back their loans much faster than anticipated.

To understand why his base is dumb, or projecting the arrogance they got from the Dunning-Kruger effect, or incapable of listening and understanding things but soleley seeking confirmation of what they already want to believe. Fanatics, if you like.

Because to an open-minded person, the first utterance of the "I am better than anyone else" trope from Trump would be an alarm-bell, but the second one would already be a confirmed problem: that Trump tries to fool people, or he considers his electors so dumb to have to feed them this BS, or he actually believes the ridiculous absurdities he continues to say.

In all cases, not a good thing.

Exclusive: Trump lawyer Giuliani was paid $500,000 to consult on indicted associate's firm

President Donald Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, was paid $500,000 for work he did for a company co-founded by the Ukrainian-American businessman arrested last week on campaign finance charges, Giuliani told Reuters on Monday.

The businessman, Lev Parnas, is a close associate of Giuliani and was involved in his effort to investigate Trump's political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, who is a leading contender for the 2020 Democratic Party nomination.

Giuliani said Parnas' company, Boca Raton-based Fraud Guarantee, whose website says it aims to help clients "reduce and mitigate fraud", engaged Giuliani Partners, a management and security consulting firm, around August 2018. Giuliani said he was hired to consult on Fraud Guarantee's technologies and provide legal advice on regulatory issues.
