The Ultimate macOS Thread

Anyone downloaded 10.6.5?

I've just installed it. Not really noticing any differences tbh.

You gotta hand it to Apple, at least they steer away from these ridiculous model numbers PC vendors use.

I did last night, so it's too early to notice anything much. And it's not an upgrade anyway, just an update.

There are no differences as long as you did not encounter problems so far. It's only bugfixes.

I was personally just hoping for TRIM but something tells me that won't come till 10.7

Reading other forums some people seem to be experiencing graphics problems.

First of all, as far as i get it, TRIM has no considerable effect on an SSDs lifespan, but only on performance losses.

I found at least one article claiming that these performance losses are virtually nonexistent under OS X, either because HFS+ is such a brilliant file system or because Apple provided some rather brilliant non-TRIM drivers.

Damn I'm so tempted....

Do let us know what the hit on battery life is like.

I haven't noticed a big hit on battery life, my MacBook still can reach its 4 hours of usage most of the time :)

This is what it's showing me now:

Isn't this just dandy... a mere four days and four battery loadcycles later and 93% becomes 88%.

^seconded. Call up apple and make them send a new one, it's under warranty.

Hmm, it's now showing 91% capacity compared to 88% a few hours ago.

Still, it's dropped a bunch in just four load cycles. I am going to take it in for sure, I'd be daft not to, but I'm busy this week.

What other tools exist other than coconutBattery?
