Car(s)
2013 Volvo V60 D6
And it is called "Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport"
Not much info on it though:
Rumours of a targa Veyron have proved correct, as pictures of an open-topped Bugatti have crept onto the internet.

English news: http://www.newcarnet.co.uk/Bugatti_news.html?id=8296

German (but with more pictures): http://www.heise.de/autos/Bugatti-mit-Targa-Dach-Veyron-16-4-Grand-Sport--/artikel/s/6208/from/atom10

Edit:
just found another english link:http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/08/the-worlds-sexi.html

I love the Veyron, but I see no point in that version whatsoever, other than being a pure posers car.

A slower, more expensive Veyron! Great!

I really like the look of it though, plain white Veyron always looked best in my book.

From the title I thought you were going to say some idiot had crashed another one.

It looks too much like a train in white IMO.

that's what i thought this thread was going to be about too,.

Going fast in a convertible is almost always more fun than going fast in a hardtop.

Well, I don't like convertibles to begin with. Then, a Veyron already is heavy enough, so the idea to make it even heavier to be able to take the roof off probably isn't a good one. And then, the top speed is reduced to 215 mph. I very much want to point out that a Veyron is not only about the top speed, but then again, if you take that away and make it even fatter, I can't help to think that this car is not for people that want a superfast, comfortable GT anymore, rather than for people that want a Veyron because it is a symbol.

I'm absolutely with Hammond on this one: if you take the roof of a car, you want to have a nice time and cruise, so there's no need for it to have a gazillion horsepowers and go 200+ mph.

i'm still saying, why pay all that money and go 215 rather than pay less and get the 253 one, or still get a ccx i never heard of speed restrictions on the ccx, i would say they are attracting more people to buy veyron, mostly people that want to be seen driving it, but they say they are not makeing a profit from seeling so what is the point of it ?, this looks like the worlds most pointless car, of course if your wearing cars/driving in city centers at rush hour just to be seen, the best car in the world has just been created, expect pink, white and that german taxi shades on the color pallet

Imagine what would happen to your hair in that thing!

I also generally don't like convertibles, but there are some that I definitely wouldn't mind owning.

The acceleration should still be there, even if it lost a few tenths to 60mph it would still be face bendingly quick. The quickest convertible I've been in was a Z4, and even in that it felt like you were going quicker with the top down. It's much more of an aural and physical experience, and I'm sure it's the same way with the Veyron. They claim that it is just as stiff so the handling should stay intact.

Plus it's a targa and not a convertible with a folding roof, so the looks (which I like) are also preserved.

Tiff Needel has already demonstrated that in real world conditions, its pretty much impossible to hit the 253 mph top speed on real roads. Hell getting to 215 without paying the consequences is pretty rare too.

So while your arguement about numbers on paper, sounds reasonable, in reality, its completely irrelevant. Basically you're crying about numbers you'd likely never see/achieve if you were to own a veyron.

Someone who gets that upset that a convertible version of the 'worlds fastest production car' is slower is a small person indeed.

I'm sorry but what sane person wants to drive 200+ mph in an open top car *without* a helmet on. Not me.

Since when has the Veyron been anything but a car you buy to be in an exclusive list? Nobody buys a Veyron to race, they buy a Veyron to impress people when they pull up to a Monte Carlo casino.

And if this car is pointless than would all the other targas been considered pointless? carrera gt? koenigsegg?

Also where are you getting this 215 mph # from? All I see is "over 215" and with a hardtop targa there is no reason for them to limit it.

Yeah, but that's more the peoples than the cars fault. If I make a good car, and it's only bought by knobs, it still is a good car. I wouldn't buy a Veyron for track racing, but as a superfast Autobahn cruiser, it does have quite a point over the competition.

For me personally, yes. I either want a car that is light, powerful and fast and has a fixed roof, or a car to feel good in and have a nice time in the summer with a fold down or targa roof. For that however, everything above the power I need to cruise around and have a bit of fun with is a waste in my eyes.

But if it's just as fast as the original, why would they question the top speed in the first place?

I will only approve of this if its as fast, or faster, than the standard veyron. The End.

Which it probably won't be. I have to side with everyone, I love the Veyron, but this is for drying your hair along the south of France/Monte Carlo/Vegas Strip/PCH.
