How boring some people must be. That ad is awesome. Yes, I come from Poland and I don't find anything offensive in that. (of course, I know the history). The Daily Fail is so stupid!
There are however some mistakes in spelling and grammar which I find even more funny.
He showed wrong city: Cracow

Some accused Clarkson of being xenophobic with one angry viewer accusing him of supporting the far right. Others viewed the advert as a bit of fun.

One blogger wrote: ?The video was made as a joke and it was funny. Success. Some people are simply devoid of a sense of humour. God help the rest of us?

I think i need a lie down the DM did not only show that people complained but they also showed a lot of people thought it was funny:jawdrop: are they in danger of becoming a fair and balanced paper

They need to do something properly outrageous, like buy as many Morris Marinas as they can, set them on fire and then drive over all of them in a tank, with Jezza standing in the turret like Rommel and doing the Hitler moustache.

Lets offend the whole of the western world all at once :lol:

The last ad with Poles running away. Come on, its just fooling around, JC was about one of his favourite themes - Germany invaded Poland. German navigation only goes to Warsaw. And now the same theme. The ad was funny, but it would be just as funny it a mobilisation was shown in Poland. It would be more accurate.

On the other hand it was an AD, for a VW, so in an AD you gotta show zi enemy running away, coz zi VW is coming, on one tank.

It was a joke, I am not offended, and I am a Pole. JC knows history so I am not worried, its just that the Frenchies were the surrender monkeys, not us Poles ;) Inaccuracy at most, nothing more to it. Stupid journos writing BS as usual.

I don't know whether to be amused or dumbfounded at the Daily Fail and their ilk. I would have expected them to whinge about the suicide advert instead of the Germany/Poland one.

I laughed reading the bit about Ofcom getting complaints from 100 or so callers. It reminded me of the line off the PTV episode of Family Guy where the FCC equates a few dozen complaints to several billion angry viewers. Perhaps that's the kind of math the Fail uses.

One complaint that they made in the show was about the fact that two wounded Soldiers came back from the Middle East and had compensation awarded and increased on appeal, now the government wants to take it away from them - Duck Pond and moat expenses claiming swine.

The Times has very conveniently published a list of Jeremy's top ten of most controversial Top Gear moments.

He has been hailed as a hero of political incorrectness and derided as deeply offensive, but during his long career on Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson has been anything but dull.

In the 21 years since he first appeared on the BBC motoring show, the TV presenter and Sunday Times columnist has raised the ire of the Poles, the Germans, the residents of Norfolk, prostitute welfare organisations, gay rights groups and environmentalists to name but a few.

On occasion, the 49-year-old has apologised after whipping up storms of protest, but mostly he has stood firm, arguing for the right to express his opinions and make jokes without fear of being gagged.

People like that tend to crop up in the letters page of the Daily Fail, usually signing off bile-filled missives of rage as 'Outraged of Essex'.
Some people are far too thin-skinned.

I assure you these kinds of people are not confined to Britain. We have plenty of them here too.

Has anyone yet spotted the irony in these whingers trying to gag someone for making a joke about a regime that prevented free speech?

Not really. What do you mean by "a regime"?
Anyway, I found the commercial moderately funny but certainly not offensive. The only annoying thing is its inaccuracy, especially when it comes to footage, its not contemporary and most of the places are certainly not in Poland.

By regime I meant the National Socialist Party, Germany, 1930's-40's aka Nazis.

No.

They're still a bunch of mindless jerks who'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Now English isn't my native language, so excuse my ignorance, but I always thought "pikey" simply meant "an ill-mannered loud-mouth brash kind of person"?
