Anyone know where this car is registered? Haven't seen this reg plate before ..

So, this car has been standing put for like a few months now, and there was a note on it a few days ago, it said: "YOUR CAR IS IN THE WAY. WE ARE BUILDING A ROAD HERE. REMOVE YOUR VEHICLE ASAP.."

It's a dark picture, but if you can see in the background there is a stadium for soccer and track & field games, it's huge ... so they are re-building the road, but the MGB GT is in the way! I think it's hillarious that they had to put up the fence around the MGB GT ...

I say it's stolen, then abandoned ..

that's an MG C :p
it even says MG Owners Club on the grill

That's an MGB GT. (not a Morgan! :p) Not the greatest MG, but if it goes unclaimed, I'll take it! :)

That's an old English plate on it by the way. Can remember what year the M Suffix is from, but judging by the chrome bumper it's one of the earlier ones...

Worth a few thousand (UK) pounds... :)

Edit: Okay, as Fluke says, it could be a C (I've always found them difficult to tell apart)...

It'll be from August 1973 to July 1974
(Posted my post probably within a few seconds of Flukes...)

i'm not 100% sure about it being a C
but that was the first thing that popped into my mind

after some googling....
mgcars.org.uk says that the MGC was built 1966-69 and the MGB from 1972-76
so probably monkeymax is right ;)

Yay! :p

Was thinking about getting an MGB Roadster (sp?) a while back, so did a bit of research into it.
But it is true, it's difficult telling apart some of the MGCs and MGBs...

And for those who may ask: the GT is the hard top version while the roadster is the the soft-top... The GT is not as desirable (therefore valuable) as the soft-top, but still quite nice.

However, any of the MGs with the Americanised Rubber Bumpers (fenders) is just fugly and not worth buying...

Ouch .... damn ...

See, I always seem to mix "Morgan" and "MG" up. No, it's true! It may sound weird but it's true! You know, some always mix up left and right, or can't turn left (Zoolander :D )

Edited title and post.

What should I do now? Should I try help the poor man who has prolly had his MGB stolen? IF that's what has happened ... maybe contact this owners club??

haz

Yup. If it's owned by an enthusiast of any kind, and if those really are legitimate UK 'plates on there (quite likely) then the chances are high that someone at the Owners club will know whose it is...
Everyone I know who owns an MG is a member of the UK owners club, so...

Let us know what happens!

Ones they where re-doing part of a parkinglot at my old work and there was a car parked there, for a month or two and they just left that spot un-done.. And its still that way with a bald spot in the middle of the parking lot.. Makes me smile everytime im there :p

Sent this to the owners club:

"Hello,
I thought I'd contact you guys because I know of a MG C which is parked outside
my house which MIGHT be stolen, here in Oslo - Norway. I suspect it is stolen
because it has been parked at the same spot for along time, and construction
workers nearby has even put a note on it. But no one moved it.

It has a MG owners club badge on it, and has British reg plates: RNJ 675 M

I discussed the matter on a forum, and we thought contacting you guys would be
the best thing to do. IF it is stolen, I'd like to help the owner getting
his/her car back.

Contact me on *removed* for more info.

Check out pictures of the car on the forum I'm using:

I also sent an e-mail to your adm.

Regards Henrik Staib"

Yup, that looks good.
Thought we'd decided it was an MGB GT though... :p

oh, yea ... true. Oh well, I got the reg plates right, I think ... that's what they'll need to check if it really is stolen ..

haz

i'd edit out my phonenumber on a public forum

done ... I didn't even think of that....

haz

And the cops haven't touched it? Here, if you leave a car on the streets for a long time and it's reported, they'll stick a label on it giving whoever notice and then like a week after that, tow and impound it.

There better be a happy ending for this...great car, I wouldn't mind having one of those, but it'll rust to pieces right before my eyes here. Get a car cover for it!

I once saw a parking lot that was being resurfaced. It had been sealed off and the job had been completed, but there was a van sitting in the middle of it that must have belonged to the company. The patch underneath it hadn't been touched! :lmao:

OMG! poor MG. I used to have one rather similar to that. Good idea to get in touch with the owners club.

Blimey if that was in the UK it would have been towed away and crushed after a while. That's if it hadn't been stripped for spares :(

Got a reply from the Owners Club:

"Thank you for your e-mail.

I have checked both all our stolen adverts and the database of registered
car and have not found the car. However, we will place the details on our
website and in the next available edition of the magazine to see if we can
find any details out. I will come back to you with further information as
soon as possible although with a new road being built it might be to late.
Looking at the pictures of the car it is a 1974 MG BGT and looks to be in
reasonable condition.

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Kind regards

******"

So, why couldn't he find it in their database, if it has a "owners club" badge on it? hmmmm...., maybe fake badge??
