As of the announcement it sounds like he'd been training for 3 months already. He must be happy with his pace and progress to then commit to a come back, but I'm doubtful. I thought the whole reason he quit in the first place was to go out at the top before phelps and biederman and the likes tore him apart in the pool. I believe i read somewhere that it was difficult for Thorpe to keep up that kind of relentless pace due to his massive build and the sheer amount of energy input required to stay at the top. But here we are, he's coming back.

I suppose one good sign is his team mate Geoff huegill has not only managed to come back from being a complete maccy d's beef cake but came back to swim faster than he ever did before he retired.

Think it took him a lot longer than what thorpes got until it's time to perform.

What do you think? Come back glory or is he going to get hammered and have his amazing reputation tarnished?
