Thoughts on a Theme Tune?

Agreed. Our little forum isn't likely to affect their decision. Let's not think that much of ourselves. :p
Actually I have to disagree.

Exactly, don't ever underestimate the power of a good forum.

I run one that I know for a fact (had meetings with them regarding things posted on it) is watched by a UK airline, I also keep an eye on a couple of forums related to my line of work and have reacted to posts made on them.

Anyways, to Theme songs.

That's such a cliche but I fear you could be right. I suspect they will use it in the opening show at least.

What ever is chosen, it needs to have a good "hook" and a strong, classic sound that will become as synonymous with The Grand Tour as "Jessica" is with Top Gear.

A properly clipped and edited "Black Dog" would be ideal, you could just pick the section of guitar that fits the opening credits and you're done.

Or, to commemorate their "immigration" to Amazon, what about "Immigrant Song"?

The electric keyboard is a little retro, but the hook for "Jump" works pretty well.

"Jump" has some good editing potential

"Seven Seas of Rye" has a great instrumental track that would be perfect

"One Vision" is on my "Go Fast" iPod mix for a good reason. Just start it when the electric guitar comes in and make it an instrumental.

"Hammer To Fall" has a good strong guitar intro, but it would probably need to be edited down to get some more variety in the intro.

Maybe not the into, but the chorus from "Headlong" sounds pretty good. It could be covered with another guitar doing the notes of the vocal track.

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure I will think of more.

Exactly, it has nothing to do with clever word jokes but it needs to be a catchy prog rock intro tune. Hence I still stand by my choice.

Clich?s are not always bad....it's one of those songs I associate with the guys, and 'blokishness' in general.

That said, some 'harder' version of 'Ramblin man' by the Allman Brothers...

Fantastic song, it has the sort of guitarsolos in it they could ramp up, and the lyrics match their 'travelling circus' thing perfectly, also, the vindictive 5 year old in me would love the idea of using another allman Brothers classic, just as a : you might have the trademark name, and the stig, and the track, but we are still the real new TopGear, we have the soul of it, and by using a sister song to the original theme song, we are also taking the musical ambiance with us and not a damn thing your copyright lawyers can do about it' sort of thing.

"Danger Zone" Kenny Loggins

I would like this, without the lyrics, just the tune:

Good God no....

Jezza is a big Bob Seeger fan (as discussed in s17 ep6), so I suggest:

Her Strut (instrumental version) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF2gaDEgEIA

Old Time Rock n Roll (but this may be a bit too backward-looking, but the guys are getting old but still have young spirits) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpSX_YxVCek
Instrumental version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ2qjsZvVAU

The Fire Inside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmWX3md_R9k

During the aforementioned episode, Clarkson references "Night Moves" and "Old Time Rock n Roll".

Thematically, "Turn the Page" (..."here I am on the road again, here I am up on the stage...") fits VERY well, but the song is slow and not upbeat enough, probably. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAbY2cmEsS0

Ok, perhaps I'll stop here before I get too carried away..

I am big fan of the Who and I feel a bit gormless that I did not remember that!

Sorry, but do you *really* want people to conjure up the image of The Boys dancing around a living room wearing no trousers? A la Tom Cruise?

Not being a Tom Cruise fan, I don't have that visual connotation to the song, but I suppose some others do. Remembering that the movie is "Risky Business", the title alone kind of fits The Boys.

I do find one thought amusing: Imagine a brief video segment showing Tom Cruise in that scene, followed by Jezza saying "In case you were wondering, we're not doing that." and quickly moving on.

Here's a song for when Clarkson gets hungry

They could play his when Richard comes on

So do we really think Amazon will pony up for "real" music or give us a bunch of production crap? The BBC had/has that blanket license to play pretty much anything, hope Amazon follow suit.
