Boring '02 Accent.
After seven years I think it would be best to sell it before repairs start to pile up and while it still has a reasonable resale value.

Details on my car here.

With trips I take every year and gear I carry around, I really want the next one to be a hatchback. The previous one was and I have missed having one ever since I got the Neon ( a two door coupe ).

Also, the boost addiction I was infected with has shown signs of revival lately.

I. want. another. TURBO !

Looking at the market, I think I have found a possible replacement.

You may not like its looks ( I personnaly don't care much as long as it is clean and straight, I bought a neon after all :p )
but my next one just might be this:

I must admit it was not on the list at first but power drew me to it.
In GT trim, that retro looking little van has 220 turboed hp with 245 lb.-ft. of torque. Basically the same engine specs as the SRT-4.
Exhaust is the bottleneck keeping it from having the same numbers.
Exterior differences from any other PT are: badges, wheels and exhaust tip.
Great potential for a sleeper at the lights if you ask me.

Other vehicles with similar possiblities are weak in power:
Matrix XRS has 170 hp. but only 127 lb.ft. of torque. :( Less than the Neon in a heavier car.
Vibe GT is the same car.

Other than that I would have to look at a station wagon. Not very tempting.

I found one with a manual transmission from a 51 year old man who's asking less than 16,000$(canadian) for it. Factory warrantied still too.
And CAA says "no complaints" which I never heard them say before about any car I asked them.

I am due for a new ride.

What do you think ?

Hope this all works out. *crosses fingers and goes back to crunching numbers about car payments* ;)

man, whats with the bad choice of cars really? the cars are either ugly, or ugly and bad. if you want a neon, I heard decent stuff about the SRT-4. other than that I think all the cars you mentioned above are  ..sorry :p there are so much more choices in the market... and I can't think of any cause its 2 am and I blew off my last exam I feel like crying so leave me alone.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
/me kicks his computer

If you want another turbo, pick up a used GTI 1.8T. Kind of a lumbering buffoon compared to the new one, but the 1.8T is a FANTASTIC engine.

Yeah anything BUT the PTcruiser! Never driven it but looks are important too! Status...with that thing you won't have any...IMO ;)

don't buy a PT cruiser

can as well buy a new beetle or mini, has the same charisma over it --> girlscar

and don't you think you would be better off with a japanese car? the neon and the PT cruiser are good examples of america trying to make the same type of cars as japan, but crearly failed (althought the neon isn't that bad, an even-priced japanese car will be better). and you'll have way more choice for a turbo car.

you guys have to understand that roman needs a car to haul stuff around and to drive cross country in... although there are loads of other choices out there, the PT cruiser is not a bad choice.
btw roman, if you need a car to carry loads of stuff around, why not look into a Volvo 850 T-5 wagon?.. its pretty damn fast for a wagon and can carry loads of stuff

ps:I'm not saying the PTcruiser is a good looking car or anything, it just suits very well for romans needs

I know someone who's got the non-turbod version and loves for the fact that it can carry a lot of stuff. He's on his second one now but that's because he leases the cars.

You might want to look into a GTI but I don't think you'd be making a mistake buying the PT.

Thanks for the input Mischief007. :)

I must admit not having thought about the GTI but I am also biased against VW (sorry Josty :( ). I 'll look it up but I really REALLY dislike the Drive-by-wire throttle  and so does Sport Compact Car.
And the throttle. Oh, the throttle. Drive-by-wire is more often a curse than a blessing and the calibration used in the GTI is terrible. The throttle is slow to respond and has a general feeling of disconnect and vagueness.
I'll call CAA about it see what they have to say about them. There's one for sale in the same price range about twenty minutes away from here. Time for a test drive ! :)

andy
I am looking at Volvos as per your suggestion and those I find are in the ten year old and 150,000 to 200,000km. range. A bit old, no waranty left, and heavy milleage. No sale. Volvo will have to wait this time but I will own another one in my lifetime. One old 244 GL once saved my life in an accident and I feel it is only fair to buy another one from the company that saved my life.
 Sorry for the diversion... back on topic.

You are right andy, it does fit my needs and I don't want to end up slower than with the Neon so power comes into play ( and out goes the Matrix and Vibe :p ). Looks and status don't weigh much with me. In fact, I like deceiving looks. I love to give unsuspecting kids in souped up ricers a trashing. ;) I seriously would take off the badges on the PT just for this.

bone
Name one japanese with lots of room, plenty of power & sold under twenty thousand here in Canada and I will consider it, period.
I am living with a budget here and don't want to give up travelling and jumping to pay for the car that I am buying for it in the first place. ;) As for the girl's car comment, you could have said nostalgic (older) man's car and I would have agreed.

Same comment, name one ? I seriously will consider it.

Me too and I don't want another sedan with no easy room for all my camping/skydiving gear. The SRT-4 performance upgrade fit the Cruiser. If installed by Chrysler service, you retain warranty protection.

Such was not the case in '98 when I bought the Neon. Nobody could believe I had bought one, me being a driver and all. Reality is (was) an even performing car back then would have been the SIR Civic and it has comparable road manners, little more power (160hp) but less torque and was sold very nearly twice the price of my ACR ( $22,000 for the SIR vs. $12,500 for the Neon) .

I once was biased against the american car makers but after having owned one, I see Daimler/Chrysler in a different light. ( Not saying I would buy anything with a Chrysler badge though. )

i have no idea about prices, but the nissan pulsar GTiR is fast, so is the civic VTI.
or do you have european brands over there? renault clio 2.0 16v is a blast, and what about citroen saxo VTS or peugeot 106 pro car

and does it have to be new? (besides the price maybe) you can't go wrong with a used audi A3 or you might even find a used BMW 3 saloon

Not saying I would buy anything with a Chrysler badge though.

what are you saying? your neon was chrysler, and so will be your PT cruiser

What's important is what YOU think. Take that test drive!

He means he has no blind brand loyalty.

No european cars over here bone. Unfortunately we don't get that kind of luxury here ;). We have limited number of vehicles to pick from.

Roman What about a 5 door Focus Hatchback?? I know it is a Ford but it would be the same as a Golf 5-door. Might want to take a look as well.

Just throwing more cars at you Roman. I know power wise it is a little low but you never know.

Damn Roman, I was expecting to see a pic of a Mazda 3 Sport, then when I saw turbo, I thought of a WRX Wagon, but not THIS!!!! :yucky:

You're a nice guy but you definately have an horrible taste in cars...

For 33k you could get A LOT better of a car... heck just wait for the new Golf GTi!

200hp 2.0T! Find a used WRX wagon, 227hp turbo + AWD = kickass in our winters.

I am not about to spend 35,000$ on a car. 18,000$ is a max I am not willing to go over by much and still, only for a bargain.

Sorry, none of those available here. But thanks for the many suggestions.

Exactly.

As for the Focus station, estate, whatever, if only the SVT was available I would try to hunt down one and see how much it is worth.

Well it's worth 33k new Roman.

How about my suggestion of a WRX wagon? it's much better than your crappy PT cruiser!

And BTW, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but for 16k, it's been in a crash and then rebuilt for sure.

umm i donno what the price jap cars in ur market is. MR2's are always cheap and have loads of turbo options

98,000hkd it is when converted, u can get a GTR for that price, a R32 one though.

98,000 can also get u everything else that u can name whcih is slower than a gtr from jp (except nsx)

u can also get 3 series for that or 5 series ( u can get a 540i with ac sceinzer(Sp) kit_

well.. the PT Turbo is fun to a certain level... there is no japanese wagon in that price range any "funner" than that
