I managed to get connected to the tracker with a different DNS server at first and then with hosts file entries.
Judging by the tracker's stats (http://hawkies.hawkies-world.com/details.php?id=778&dllist=1#seeds) it seemed that not a whole lot was happening, but just now (after a few hours) it started uploading and downloading for me.
(The hosts file entries are:
66.79.173.150 hawkies.hawkies-world.com
66.79.168.30 forum2.hawkies-world.com).
