I've been buying Top Gear magazine for the last few months now, and was wondering how many people here buy it. It's a bit hard to find in Canada (Chapters it the only store I've found that carry it) and is quite expensive ($11.95 Canadian compared to the average magazine price of $5-6), but the overall quality of the magazine more than justifys buying it.

The qualtiy of car magazines we get in North America is pretty pathetic, so reading a magazine with a high-level of writing, interesting articles and hilarious editorials is a total breath of fresh air. I spend around $12 a month on it, but I get the content and quality of atleast 3 American magazines. :p

Anyone else enjoy the magazine as much as I do?

I occasionally buy it..main reason is that is a little bit expensive for me...we have some pretty good dutch magazines so that will do :)

i have one issue, the one with the zonda, sl55, vanquish murc test.

i saw the cover at Barnes and Noble and just had to have it.

i still prefer an american mag, road and track or automobile because TG mag focuses squarely on the UK market. even though content is better i would want more local coverage.

i got my latest Road and track and they tested the SLK350 :D :D .

ps- im still looking for this months mag with the dvd. Barnes and Noble apparently get TG issues middle to late month.

I buy it reguarly. If you can't get hold of the dvd don't worry too much. It's not that good, however I will rip it and send it to anyone who wants it. In the UK its about the average price for a magazine and a lot cheaper that computer magazines, at ?3.75. That also makes it 5p cheaper than CAR, which I also buy if it takes my fancy. Both are exellent magazines.

Not so much of just the DVD cuz i have every TG ep from 2002 to date. And it is just a best of with clips of eps through the season so its not that big a deal. However, with that dvd, which is good but not to die for, comes the test of the 430 and the FW25 vs M5 which i really want to read about. Plus i buy on occasion and this seems to be an occasion to buy.

ps- dont tell me anything on how the tests turned out.

I buy it every month along with a lot of other car mags as well. CAR is great as well.

I also think that Autocar is a gem among car mags, but unfortunately it is no longer available in Finland... all and all I probably put about 40Euros on car mags a month.

If you can't get a copy justin I'll scan some of the articles for you.

I got that issue at Chapters last week here in Vancouver. I guess we get them sooner than New York. :p It didn't come with the DVD, but I also have nearly every episode of Top Gear so I didn't care much. :D

Just looked through my old magazine collection and it seems that I don't have any Top Gear magazines amongst them! I'm sure I've bought it in the past though. The selection of good car mags is quite substantial over here anyways, so I tend to just pick up the magazine with the best looking front cover! hehe

In my collection are:
AutoCar
Evo
Car

**EDIT - Just found an issue of Top Gear - Issue 121 (AM DB9 and DB7 Zagato; M3 CSL v 911 GT3; New Scenic v C-Max v Touran; The 100 Most Pwerful People In Cars) and by the look of the front cover, I know why I picked this one up :)

Hey Zenon you can also find the Top Gear mag in Save on Foods, although Save On and Chapters have the same price. I agree with what you said about American car mags, but you might want to give Automobile a try. It is well written and focuses more on art design than the rest of the bunch.

As for the Top Gear magazine I don't nearly buy it as much as I read it for free  . Every month I would go to the school bookstore once or twice during my study breaks to read the latest magazine imports from Britain (Car, Evo, and Top Gear).

Ya, I've seen Top Gear in Save On a few times, but only a few of them have it. All of the Chapters seem to carry Top Gear, although they get the new copies in on completely different days.

I'll definetly give Automobile a read though, it sounds pretty good.

By the way, what school do you go to? The SFU Bookstore hardly gets any magazines, let alone car magazines. I think the only one we get is Motortrend (and I hate that magazine).

Expensive and I doubt I could find it. :?

I go to UBC. The UBC bookstore offers a bunch of magazines, although I wonder how many magazines it actually sells in a month. People just seem to go there to read them, not buy them :p .

ive bought tg mag 2 times

but i buy CAR or EVO almost every month in addition to Bimmer Magazine and occasionally Automobile

^ Bimmer is such a great magazine! My uncle subscribes to it and I usually read a whole bunch whenever I'm over at their place. :D

I've got about 4 TG mags. 1 UK version the rest international. I'm gonna ask my aunt to bring the latest one (with the dvd) when she comes back next month.

I actually subscribe to the mag..
I got hooked to it while i went back-packing thru Europe this summer, great mag to read.. helped pass many hours on the train and when i got back i was iching to read it so i put the money down and subscribed to it.
