I have been archiving the shows I have downloaded on DVD, two to a disc. I encode them in 16:9 and they play great on my Xbox.

Has anyone else been doing this?

Wait a minute, you play them on XBox?
Isn't XBox able to play AVI files (I think I heard someone say they could do that), wouldn't that be much easier?

Personally, I have an SVHS cable between my computer in one room and my tv in another, and that works just fine for me.

ps2 and xbox can play Divx and Xvid with some media players available online (PS2Reality, and Xbox Media Center or something like that) but you need a mod chip to use these media players.

otherwise you have to burn DVDs. in which case, you could burn SVCDs and play them on DVD players also if you dont wish to pay for DVDRs

^ Sure once you've made them, they're easier.
I just think making them is a bit of a pain.

Audio sync issues, creating menus, waiting to convert the files, waiting for it to burn : -> Meh! :p

I always watch the episodes on my computer, but I usually burn the episdoes to DVD as well so my Dad can watch them easily. I use NeroVisionExpress and generally put 3 episodes on a disc.

get the ep on a cdrw in 3 minutes and use your DVD Player, as long as it does Divx files...

When a season is complete, I'll burn em all to a DVD+R... Personally this would be a good reason to heighten the quality and go for 425 MB rips... 10 eps per season -> perfect fit on the DVD... But we have had this discussusion, i know :p

yep, the latest version of NeroVisionExpress makes the process very easy and it seems to do the transcoding a lot better than previous versions.

I have been using Ulead Movie Factory. The great thing is that you can burn in 16:9. I haven't tried the NeroVisionExpress yet though. As far as audio sync issues, I haven't had any at all so far!

I find that scary. You know, they could easily make 20 gig DVD's but they wont yet. DVD will probably get old sometime soon. Technology is going way too fast. It will be good to though, one day I can put all my TG stuff on one disc and have a nice menu and all. It will be great.

Mine is now on 3 discs... That's ok as well... Those old .wmv don't use that much space...

I guess, DVDs will be around for some time... HD-DVDs are supposed to be sold in Europe in 2006... And it will start slowly, I think. They will be the best copy protection ever... Especially for Games: PS3 will have a Bluray drive, thats up to 20 GB... Nobody will dl it... Just buy it...
