if the show is pro GM... then there studio becomes my target...
*BOM!*

if it is a real Top gear then they will bankrupt GM .. just like how JC made MG rover go away :p

So true...unfortunately.

the biggest problem for me is that its not really "Top Gear".

spot on, how wierd does it look seeing the "TopGear" logo on your grandmothers TV set, instead of a flat screen plasma?

Fancy a renaming contest?...."Fingers Are So Fat and Covered With KFC Chicken Grease That We Can't Change-Gear"

I doubt that really is the same actual stig they have on the US show. Must be just some american based race driver in the suit.

i love how many stereotypes there are in this thread. what a great bunch of people
 it's like they intentionally did this
when i look at the pictures, the only things that come to mind are: Horsepower TV and Motortrend, both of which arent what TG is supposed to be.

I think this is the guest...

I think this is the guest...

I'd be willing to bet that the guest is Jon Favreau....
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0269463/

That makes sense because he's directing a movie about the history of American hot rodding following WWII.

I'd agree with the previous post that the one guy is Bruno Massel Jr. Here's the web site for his father's drag racing parts business....

I also think that Johnny Fairplay is a good guess. Here's his MySpace page, lol.

The third guy I can't find. He looks like a former football player (American football) but I can't place him and having just the name "John" to go on doesn't help.

As far as the show goes, I think their set in the one picture from the magazine looks like it was shot at a flea market...not good. And I think its a mistake to film the show without an audience. There is no way that it will be 25% as good as UK Top Gear but the question is how bad will it be?

As far as the show sucking becuase American cars suck, what percentage of the cars driven on UK Top Gear are British? With a few notable exceptions most of the "exotic" cars are available in the states and while I enjoy seeing the small Euro hatches is that what YOU really watch Top Gear for?

The two things that will matter are the Presenters and whether or not they shun coporate sponsorship. If the hosts are decent and are given the freedom to say that the new model "X" from car maker "Y" is a total P.O.S. then it will at least be watchable.

i no longer think Johnny Fairplay is the guy in the middle..
1: the hair.. (seeing shots of fairplay over a time.. he has never had hair like the dud on TGA)
2: from what i gather .. Fairplay didnt win..
3: he issent "Top Gearish"

the dud in the middle looks just so "F"ing ...
im shure ive seen him somewhere...

It's a little late to decide this, but you know who would be a good presenter? Brock Yates.

Anybody remember him? He's the old, angry guy who writes for Car and Driver and rants about how liberals are going to kill him. He was the originator of the Cannonball race across America, along with the One Lap of America (drive across America, race at tracks, lose lots of sleep) and the Cannonball movies as well. He's written books and won Pebble Beach in old snorting hot rods, and they don't call him the Assassin for nothing: he isn't afraid to speak his mind, much like an older, cruder Clarkson. He'd have the influence on car magazines; not as much as Jezza, but enough to be entertaining.

He'd be a grandfather to these kids.

Erwin G. Baker's dead, though, not much help to us now.

Looks like the waiting will be over soon. Thursday, Feb. 9 @ 9pm. What leads me to believe that this is indeed the Top Gear US version, is that they are airing new (repackaged old ep. of Top Gear) Americanized Top Gear ep. starting at 7pm EST and again after the Pilot Top Gear US.

I can capture this if you would like...I just might not be able to get it uploaded quickly...
