Came across this client recently, sounds promising, low cpu and memory usage, and only 83 KB in size.

?Torrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.

With BitTorrent, you can download files faster and contribute by sharing files and bandwidth.

At a glance

Multiple simultaneous downloads
Smart bandwidth usage
File level priorities
Configurable bandwidth scheduling
Global and per-torrent speed limiting
Quickly resumes interrupted transfers
UPnP support (WinXP only)
Supports popular protocol extensions
Typical memory usage less than 4 MB
Incredibly small: 83 KB

Screenshot here. (looks very similar to azureus)

Download etc @ http://utorrent.com/

Anyone tried this?

I'v just used it for a couple minutes on a Best Motoring torrent and I cant complain. I might just use this over ABC from now on-wards :)

Wow I still cant believe how they managed to get the install file to just 83 KB!!

Hmm tempted to give this a go - especially since some sites have banned Azureus due to the cheater mods

nice, I guess, I'll check it out...

It looks just like G3 Torrent, or something like that. BitComet still gets my vote. :)

Azureus works great for me for now. I'll try this out though.

^ Had no problem with azureus, apart from being greedy for resources. This consumes less memory and cpu than winamp. And it has a very similar look to azureus as well. Been using it for a day - day and 1/2now, so far so good.

I had less speed compared to Bitcomet... I ran it for an hour, then deleted the torrents, started the same ones up in Bitcomet, and it was clearly faster...
Could be, that utorrent doesn't feature DHT, and therefore takes a lot of time running up to its full speed, who knows...

I'll stay with Bitcomet for the next while...

This software works pretty good though if you don't really want to install BT software on your computer. I'm using it now, and next week I will try seeding with it, and see what happens.

I would keep an eye on the client. Speeds weren't that great from the beginning, I agree but they get a lot better with each relese. Version 1.1.5 was a big leap forward speedwise.

^ What he says. I just tried out 1.16, and the result:

pdanev, this was a very good find. I too am noticeing the diffrence  Im downloading that TG 1989 now..

that utorrent is good. it is the best.

Been using it for a few eeks now and I like a lot. The latest release had DHT I belive, only released a few days ago. Speeds have been ok for me.

Has anyone found a way to generate a desktop icon or similar? The only way to enter uTorrent is by initiating a .torrent file which doesn't seem right.

Where though? I have no utorrent.exe. I don't even have a folder for it in program files. Did I do some silly mistake when installing or something..

You surely do have a utorrent.exe. It's most likely in your download folder. If it isn't there do a windows search. If you find it, crate a folder called utorrent in program files and move it there. Do what I told you before and that's it.

And you don't have a utorrent folder because it doesn't come with a install routine. It just needs the .exe to work. I believe it creates some registry entries but that's all.

Yeh I found that myself. Its not every program that has its install file also its main executional file aye..

btw - Do a webupdate with it. Latest version released yesterday ;)
