Watch the range drop 100km when you turn the heat pump on:

Couldn't match official figures too:

Big software update in few months, but doubt that will cure its woes.
That seems to be the new normal reaction to building a crap EV. Just talk some nonsense about software fixing everything, which it never actually does…
And yes the results are pretty atrocious 🤦‍♂️

The update will probably make the fast charging a bit better, allowing slightly more consecutive fast charging sessions.

BMW wrecked the fast charging on the i4 with an update. This probably needs to be explicitly stated, how many consecutive fast charging sessions allowed.

Damn the bZ4X seems to be really half baked, with both high consumption and really slow charging, making it worse for long trips than things like city cars, that were clearly not made for that. This is not what I expected from a manufacturer like Toyota. But I guess, they had to cobble together something in a hurry to get something to the market a bit fast... They (and the other Japanese brands) have to get their act together very soon, or the Chinese are going to steal and eat their lunch.

From what I understand, it was developed under a CEO who saw BEV's as a dead-end, and the new CEO doesn't, and is completely scrapping the entire platform for a new from-scratch design.

What I understood from @Lastsoul (who had one as a long-term tester) is that it's not a bad EV per se, it's more that Toyota overpromised ridiculously.

Teslabjørn did a new 1000 km test of the bZ4X:

TLDW: Big improvement, went from using 14h 25m to 11h 50m, which is below average for such a car, but no longer an embarrassment. Still has the same "rapid gating" issue as the Leaf where the battery may overheat on longer trips when you fast charge, and it throttles back the charging speed. It also still limits fast charging to a given set of cycles per day, and goes down to 45 KW when you cross that threshold.

Manufacturers should have to list all the charging limits.

Wonder what would happen if you walked into a dealer and asked them to explain punishment points :ROFLMAO:
