Tracker problems

Hello.

I have been a fan of Top and Fifth Gear for a long time, and enjoyed this great source for all the newest episodes, but I never actually registered for the forum until now.

I am at college and in my dorm there is a firewall that blocks most connections during the day. At night they open a lot of the ports, and I can download most torrents. I can't ever get Top Gear and Fifth Gear torrents to work, though, even at night. The torrents from when VUK was out of town (the large files that someone else captured) worked perfectly here, but the older Top Gear episodes (early 90s) and episodes that VUK captured won't work. They do work at home and when I go to the library here (the same restrictions do not exist there, but they blocked my access for downloading too much there .

I know that there are a number of reasons this might not be working, but I was just wondering if anyone has any general suggestions of what I might be able to do to get these to work, or maybe try to explain why some of the torrents worked so well while the VUK episodes do not.

Well this would be a long shot, but do you by any chance use a different torrent client in your dorm?
What torrent client do you use? And what version is it?
The tracker that VUK's versions are usually on blocks certain older version of clients because they don't support a certain protocol (I forget what it's called).

I'm on a Mac using Transmission. I don't think this is the problem, though, because it will work with the same setup if I am using the connection at home or the unrestricted connection in the library. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Does your client say anything, about incoming connections, or tracker status?
Do you get any (error) messages at all concerning your bittorrenting?
