Three traveller rent accommodations
The Maid said it $300 -
Each of them took out $100 -, three of them put together =$ 300
Later on the Boss said he will charge them only $ 250.
The boss told the maid to give $ 50 - back to the travellers.
Maid put secretly put $20 in her own pocket and gave $ 30 back to the travellers
Each of them took back $10. That means each of them only paid $ 90 for the accommodations.
90 x 3 + 20 ( for the Maid) = $290 , where is the missing $ 10 dollars

:|

I have no ideea...... :?

250/3 is $83.33, then you add the $10 and each paid $93.33, not $90.
:)

EDIT: Wait, I confused myself, hold on. :p

Each payed a hundred. Then, each received ten. that means, effectively, they paid $270. Of which $20 went to the maid, and $250 went to the manager.

$250 (manager) + $20 (maid) + $10 + $10 + $10 (them) = $300, all accounted for.

pwned.

Silly rabbit. It should be 90 x 3 - 20. Thats where the inherent confusion come from.

I don?t know why, but if you reverse the math, it makes sense.
$50 (the change) divided by 3 equal $16,66.
Minus $10 each got back equal $6,66, multiply by 3 and you got the $20 bucks the maid got.
  :? :dunno: :woot:

EDIT: Damn....while I left the window open to think about it and type, someone found the catch

no its correct silly goose
I certainly wouldn't call it correct.
Since the 90 x 3 ($270) already includes $20 for the maid and $250 for the manager, that makes adding "+ 20 ( for the Maid)" or "- 20", or anything like that incorrect and misleading.

So,
90 x 3 + 20 ( for the Maid) = $290 , where is the missing $ 10 dollars
should read:
90 x 3 = $270 , where is the missing $ 30 dollars
And the answer is in the traveller's pockets.

each pays 100x3 = 300 total for all three
what they should pay 250/3=83.333 for each person
maid takes 20, gives 30 back
add 10 back to the guys
83.333+10=93.333
93.333x3=250

I got this... then realized Cruzz got it a lot earlier. I just elaborated on his idea then I guess...

:p

Maaaannn, just when I figured it out too, someone still posted before me.

How about this one.
The question is-- who owns the fish?

Hints:
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the left of the white house.
5. The green house owner drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Malls keeps birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills.
8. The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk.
9. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
10. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who smokes Dunhills.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Princes.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.

Basically, there are five people of five different races, who live in different colored houses, who smoke a different cigar and drink a different drink and have a different pet and you have to figure everything out. Who owns the fish.

Rumor has it that Einstein thought of this riddle and only 2% of the earths pop. can figure it out without cheating.

 Damn..i have no ideea...how am I supposed to know?..I should check my IQ, I didnt get the one before this one either... :?

Edit: cheating? how can I cheat? I dont get this one either

I'd have to diagram this to work it out, too much work. :|
Feels somewhat like the type of government rules I have to deal with at work.

Got it - though I had to write things down and shuffle them about - is that cheating?

Anyway, my answer is (highlight below to display)

The Germans owns the fish

Is that correct??

Umm..fbc..can you please explain how you got the answer. "Stupid me" doesnt know. :bangin:

1. scan each line for key info and write it on pieces of paper, for example for line 1, you have Brit, Red House on a piece of paper. For line 2, you have Swede, dog. Etc...
2. rearrange the pieces of paper accoring to the rules / commonalities / links.
3. the piece of paper without an animal has the fish.
