U.S. 2024 elections

Forget the Border (non issue) forget student protest (non issue) this is the real nitty gritty:

Final from Pennsylvania. Dems have yet another special election overperformance. "Republican Jeff Olsommer has won the special election for the 139th District in The State House of Representatives."

Olsommer (R) 60.3%, Skibber (D) 39.7% — a 7.3pt Dem shift vs. 2020 presidential year results.

2022.. R 63. D 37

2020. R 68 D 32

This is true political wonk news: evidence that the Democrats and Biden are moving the electorate.

I'm a little surprised it took this long for him to drop out. Trump threw his support behind someone awhile back and I didn't think anyone else would stick around.

He should have ran as "too independent" instead of cucking himself and crawling back to the Republicans blaming Democrats for winning.

He can't risk alienating the old school republican donors that fund him, including his family.

Addendum New York Special Election for the 26th Congressional. Democrat hold district +9 increase from 2020.

A poll saying that trump is winning by a point inside the margin of error amounts to zip. Real elections, in red or blue districts, show Democrats increasing voter share.

If the mics work as proposed, I fully expect:

With Trump now a felon the question should be "Will he drop out of the race?".

Hell no! What makes you think that this guy has any qualms about what he has done? This is not a moral man on any level, he will soon be raising money and boasting about the fact that he is now a convicted felon.

That would almost certainly have been the case for any other candidate than Trump.

However, like I pointed out in the other thread. To his cultist followers, and the wider GOP, he is the messias, he can do no wrong. He is the God emperor that is going to free them from the WOKE-hell they feel they have been living in.

He will use this as evidence that the WOKE Democrats and the deep state is persecuting him, and all conservatives seems to take that bait, hook, line, and sinker. He will be able to rake in lots of sympathy cash from his cult over this. Truth Social is probably going to explode, expect non-stop rambling for days from him.

I know Trump's not popular on here, so I usually don't participate in the politics sub forum. At this point, I think Trump will lose. But if he's still on the GOP ticket, I'm still give him the vote for sure. All those thing he's been accused of are really what a fixer will do for any politician. Trump is less experienced so he didn't create enough plausible deniability, that's all there is to it.

I seem to recall that he ran on being an extremely intelligent, shrewd, successful and experienced billionaire business tycoon. I.e. someone who always knows what to do.

Classic poser syndrome.

The question should be: Will Trump step down and who will the Republicans replace him with?

Exactly

Ask the question over and over "Will Donald Trump step down and who will the Republican Party replace him with?" Biden answered this question and it was asked over and over. I would think that people would see the same merits in asking the question over and over of Trump.

The Republican Party is divided. Biden overperformed Trump in their respective primaries. Trump had in primary state after primary state 20-30 percent voting against him. (even when nobody was running against him) The woke got him, he lost, why would they want a loser? Will Trump step down and who will Republicans replace him with?

In Trumps babbling today he said "he wasnt a fixer, he was a lawyer, they like to use the world fixer, but he was a lawyer, at the time he was a fully accredited lawyer"
The best people. Perhaps Trump knows some of those best people who could run after he steps aside.

Trump has taken over the Republican Party, so who is going to take him out of the race? He isn't going to bow out on his own. Hell, his biggest detractors have said that they will vote for him. If he were to drop dead, they wouldn't take him out of the race because that might upset his supporters.
