A win and three points, but a ordinary performance by England again. Thay played like a good Pub team, Estonia did well enough but weren't really stretched.

Germany lost to Poland! :? Have they been taking coaching from the England team, what the heck happened in Poland? :?
 
And Russia only played 1-1 against Moldova, and unlike Moldova only scored from the penalty point. Excellent! :thumbsup:
Yesterday I learned that the melody of Lichtensteins national anthem is "God save the queen".
 
We're playing England on the 15th. We might surprise them. We probably won't, but we might!

That was hilarious in the Serbia - Albania game. Some Albanian separatists flew in a quadcopter with some propaganda flag on it, a Serbian player managed to grab it and pull it down. Then the albanian players got involved and it almost turned into a 22 person fist fight with a few thousand head Serbian mob chanting stuff like "Kill the Shqiptar!" (derogatory term for Albanians).

UEFA are not going to like that. Very bad for commercial/TV revenues.
I sense bans of crowds being imposed or maybe even teams.

Serbs and similar ethnicities in the area have often seen bans from soccer matches, because of how they behave.

A good result for England with a slightly better performance than previous games. The players still seem only able to give about 60% as good as they do for their clubs. Strange, but has been like that for a long time.

A good away point for Wales in Belgium, plus San Marino got their first point in decades in a major qualifying. The away win by the Faroes was great too, but cost Coach Ranieri his job.

Well done to all the smaller countries who did well this round. :cool:

Nope. 100% chance of not seeing france in that match :) I only applied for the matches without France because the chances of getting tickets for those were even slimmer than for the rest ...

France plays in the Stade de France (just outside of Paris), Marseille and Lille. For the group phase at least. Can?t imagine them not advancing.
 
It's been a rather surprising qualification phase, with a number of teams under-performing, and others over-performing. Iceland and Austria have qualified for the first ever. I attribute it to the "boost effect" of the new qualifying system (2 assured entries/group, all the 3rd place teams with a chance of making it). In four year's time that psychological boost probably will have faded.
