Hi, I go to Oregon State Univ, and this past week they blocked ALL bittorrent activity. GAY!!

I'm typically always ontop of downloading the fresh episodes and supplying them to a dozen people or so here on campus, but now I have no way of downloading the episodes :(

Would anyone be willing to send them to me via IRC, aim, or another method? Otherwise we're SOL and that we'll cry. I'd really appriciate it!

Tim

Nooooooo, OSU blocked all torrent stuff?! They shoulda just added it to their packet shaper.

<-- went to OSU for mechanical engineering for a year, but ran into.... grade issues to put it lightly. :?

And do you live in the dorms? [edit] Looking at your IP, it appears you do! :) [/edit] If so, which one? I was in Wilson.... 409 I believe.

ANYWAY, there are a couple FTPs that people run that probably have the episodes: http://forum.finalgear.com/viewforum.php?f=15

Man, it's all the same with those universities..the IT staff on my uni also blocks Bittorrent on the students rooms...

But if you have got the guts, you can go to the University's PC-classes (100mbit/s) , install a bittorrent client there and use it at superspeeds. But you have to login, so I'm afraid they will come after me when they see I used bittorrents...Don't know if they would actually do it, but i'm not willing to find out.

I worked in a computer lab for work study and always used to download a lotta shit via an unsecured computer there. ^_^

Haven't been back to school yet. :(

You and I share the same problem
An alternate method would be:

- download them from www.betacars.com
- try to ask someone to send it through yousendit (see video requests)
- try to get a Mirc community where people offer episodes. I have no idea how that works and if it's workable.

I think Bittorrent is super for new episodes. But I can only use that at home (=2 days a week) and the problem is that I have 10gb transfer (upload and download)
I have to pay 5 euro for 5 gb extra...

- you can also find SOME Top Gear bits on altavista

You're luckier than I am... I only have 8GB and I pay 1,75? for 100MB...

Yea up until about a month and a half ago bittorrent was unthrottled (which was AMAZING!), but then they limited us to about ~140. Thursday they shut it off, period.

I'm here for mechanical engineering too, but yea... didn't do shit in highschool, then took a couple years off, and it was a bit... extremely hard to get back into the habit of studying. So hopefully i can pull my grades up enough this term to come back!

Yes i'm in the dorms, Poling. Its LAME. I've got a shitload of friends over at wilson, though its rundown, its a fun dorm.

Anywho, thanks for the FTP addresses, i'll check those out. and for some reason IRC works fine still. I've got a shhittttloooaddd of stuff if someone wants to work out a weekly trade ;)

Haha, see, but I was in the 1 wing in the entire building that had been remodeled (with left-overs from... crap, what's-it's-name next door). We had the nice movable desks and everything. 8)

You people should live at home and not in your fucking universities, that would solve many problems

if you set up an ftp on your machine and send me the info, when i get the new episodes ill send them your way.

Hey Got3n, for someone who has "Front wheel drive is the work of the devil!" on your sig, you sure have a lot of FWD pictures above it...

And btw, it's not the work of the devil...

well its working now... but going ridiculously slow. like i'm peaking at 14kb/s off a tracker i used to get 120 from easy. poopy, but at least it works :D

dont get me wrong i love FWD, ITR and Honda Accords RULE. i just love the saying. ^_^

okay im experimenting with another method, which is Usenet. I dont know if you can reach any newsservers, but you can try ;)

1. get the newsleecher client at http://www.newsleecher.com

2. make an yottanews account at http://www.yottanews.com

3. enter the yottanews newsserver (free.yottanews.com) and your account details in Newsleecher

4. See if you can connect and post the result here

5. ill upload some test files, and ill post a file here, download that and open it and see if you can download the file i uploaded through usenet.

6. in the meantime dont try to download anything else, yottanews only gives you 1GB/month and you dont want to run out of your 1GB with only having 100MB to go at a Top Gear episode :p

k. ill upload a testfile sometime tomorrow and post the link here.
