is there such thing? my cousin got a new hd and he use to spilt his 40G in to 2 20G's, is it possible to put them back together and lose no space at all?

it would be possible if you re-formatted the whole HD, or you could try using the software partitionmagic, but I'm not sure if it would put 2 partitions back together

99% sure you have to reformat the partioned areas of the disk to do so.

PartiotionMagic makes it possible to combine 2 partitions into a new one without losing data.
However thats dangerous stuff. (>50% chance of losing data) especially if youre not a pc-guru. (i even lost a partition once, but i recovered about 99% of its data).

i would suggest deleting one of the partitions and increasing the size of the other. Partition Magic can do that and its way less risky than the other way.

relying on partition magic is really risky, I rather copy the stuff onto another HD and do a reformat and partition, much less risky

There wont be any problems with Partition Magic if the latter drive (D: ?) is empty. Any software you have on the drive you will lose in the merge wont work due to registry stuff.
