Both VMware and Parallels boast DX9 3D accelerated graphics..... but ill be fooked if i can see it working.

CAD programs are sluggish, and an old classic.... surely playable by a Virtual Maching... Unreal Tournement G.O.T.Y. edition.... simply doesnt do anything coherent on the screen and then runs incredibly slowly

do you have to do anything more than just enable the 3D stuff in the settings? im not really sure if normal VGA drivers work on VMware

Did you install the VMware drivers on the virtual machine?

if you mean VMware tools then yeah

I don't trust any of the graphics claims Parallels and VMware make. If you need to run intensive apps, it is definitely worth it to just boot in to Boot Camp, and only use virtualisation for basic apps. You can run a Boot Camp partition in a virtual machine.

Anything that's CPU heavy should be fine in a VM; pushing large amounts of memory around I'm not too sure about... (as in graphics)

^ solved the prob by just digging out an old xp rig.... not sure what graphics card it has, but im sure it can handle the original UT just fine
